I've searched the forum to find the answer, but haven't been able to so far.

I have a Garmin i3 with maps pre-loaded internally ( i.e. it didn't come with memory card )

So ... I bought a 1GB micro SD

I downloaded all the POIs and also the speed camera CSVs, and tried to use the latest Beta POI Loaded to load them.

It tells me there isn't enough space.

Is it trying to load them to the internal memory card ? How can I get them onto my additional 1GB card ?

Ta.

Its probably a good job it didn't work or you could have rendered the device unable to boot, there is a limit to the number of POI categories you can have installed on an i3 - there is a warning about this in red on the downloads page:

Note: The Garmin format is a basic CSV, you will be able to use it for other systems too.

Special Note to i3 users: DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL MORE THAN 85 POI CATEGORIES AS THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR UNIT TO FAIL TO BOOT! If you have a card reader make a backup of your Micro-SD card to PC before downloading these POIs. If you have a newer model with no transflash card then you should use POIs on a separate TransFlash card to avoid any possible corruption of the internal memory.

Special Note to nuvi users: DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL MORE THAN 257 POI CATEGORIES AS THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR UNIT TO FAIL TO BOOT! It is advisable to install the POIs onto a separate SD Card so if you do have problems then you can remove the poi.gpi file from the memory card from a separate card reader.

Think a little more about which POI you need to install and DO NOT EXCEED 85 categories, to install the POI to the card and not the device you need to put the card into a card reader and point POILoader in the direction of the card, this will then install the POI to the memory card which you simply insert in to the i3 - Mike

thanks.

I thought it might have been possible to write to the card via the i3 connected via USB ( just like a mp3 player )

Better by a card reader/writer then !
