There is another difference between the Kenwood and the Garmin GTM10 - the Garmin version comes with a lifetime subscription to the UK TMC service by Trafficmaster, whereas the Kenwood version (at least the version that seems to be sold by these Amazon sellers) only has a sample 3 month subscription, which will need renewing after 3 months. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

No. The majority of sources I've found the GTM10 cheap are actually the Kenwood units.
However, if you have a standard car aerial connection, and are willing to pay a little more than the cost of the unit, you can buy a Kenwood GTM10, and then after 3 months license it (with a lifetime subscription) and it'll probably still work out cheaper than a Garmin GTM10. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

I'm a bit confused. According to the JustKenwood website, the GTM comes with lifetime subscription NOT a 3 month subscription. Has anyone bought from this website or the £63 Amazon links? If so can they confirm whether or not it is a 3 month or lifetime subscription.
Out of interest, anyone know how much it costs for a lifetime TrafficMaster subscription, I had a look around there website but couldn't see it. |

No one can confirm right now. Whilst the JustKenwood site (which has taken the text directly from Garmin's website) says a lifetime subscription, the Kenwood website does not say this. Also, I believe the information in the box says it's only a 3 month subscription, but then someone told me this looked like the manual was written for the US market, where that is definitely the case for all GTM10s.
The cost is about £40 (it is available on the Garmin website, although as with all transactions on their site, including European map upgrades, it's priced in dollars). _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
