I brought a ICN530 Nordic last November for a trip through Europe.

The unit worked fine until after I came back I deleted all the maps I don't need.

Now when I start the GPS the unit starts simulation routing on a road in the UK (maps are deleted!!), I have unchecked the simulation option, canceled the route, but after a few minutes it starts again !!

The only way to get around this is to set a new route (I live in Sweden), but after the route is complete the unit goes back to the route in the UK and the simulation option is checked again.

Is there anyway to do a hard reset which will return the system back to the original settings, I have used the stylus in the reset hole on the units bottom, and turned the power switch off and on - none of this helped.

Maybe I should reinstall the UK maps and then delete the route ?

I am off to Spain in a few weeks and would like to know the unit is working as it should.

Any tips would be helpful

Thanks !!

If you mean the small switch marked -o which turns the battery on/off then you have already done a "hard reset". There is no a "harder reset" unfortunately.

Sounds like something which could help. Good luck!

I did a new hard reset, this time I left the unit off for a couple of minutes - seems to have done the trick, clicking the battery off and on probably didn't clear the memory - well, fingers crossed !

Make sure that all three demonstration checkboxes are unchecked -- Route Demonstration, Repeat and SmartST Demonstration.
From your descriptions sounds like you have SmartST Demonstration turned on -- that will pick up first two of your favourites and continuously demonstrate route between them.
