Today I got so off when I connected the car charger to the ciggarete lead and didn't charge, only to find out that the "nose" of the plug fell apart. I honestly didnt put any pressure on the lead but it literary fell apart!!! Well I had a look at ebay and found some car chargers for nuvi for £5-£6 but none of them was genuine. Well.. I paid £330 for my nuvi last year and I wouldnt really want to use something non-genuine as my warranty is valid until june. Do you know if the car charger that came in the box is also covered by the warrany? I would expect better quality on Garmin's car cgharger's though

I have had same problem with the charger that came with the i3. The nose on the charger came off and blew the fuse in my car. But I called garmin and told them what happened and they sent me a new charger immediately. ( of course , my unit was registered and was under warranty.)

But they responded with amazing speed. I was so pleased.

I suggest you call Garmin. I am sure they will definitely sort things out.

Hi Tsinos,

I too have a Nuvi (660 Version) which I bought New Years Day, the Mounting Bracket broke where it connects to the Windscreen Mount, so I too like Prasadm called Garmin. They didn't ask when/where I bought the Unit, but just asked for my Home Address and shipped a replacement staright out, excellent service.

Cheers

MarkieT

(Oh & like Prasadm I too had registered my unit when I bought it)

Thanx a lot!
I'll call Garmin first thing at Monday! Yes I have registered the unit but luckily not when I bought it but a couple of weeks ago so I was eligible for the free V9 maps update. Otherwise I think I had to pay for the V9 maps as I bought it last June

My charger fell apart back in Jan, but I found all the bits (scattered far and wide throughout the car) and put it back together - it's the silver flat bit at the end which comes unscrewed and then the nose-spring takes over and ...ping...

So Garmin send you a brand new one free of charge and you're going to charge someone for your old broken one? Confused

Surely you'll use the packing that Garmin sent the new one in, so that will cost you nothing, and the postage wouldn't be more than £1.

I just thought that, since you've had such good treatment from Garmin (especially as you got free v9 maps for a unit you bought last March) you might have passed the good will on.

But then I know I have old-fashioned values and shouldn't expect the same from others.

You'd think £2 was a fortune the way some people complain about the charge for the camera database! But you've restored my faith in human nature. :D
