Current road speed

Looking to buy a satnav. I quite like the TT 910, but notice it doesn't appear to include current road speed in the specs.
Am I right, or should I be looking to a different manufacturer?

Yes, almost all GPS devices display actual speed including the TT910.
If in doubt download the manual from TT It'll tell you in there.

To be honest unless you need it for some specific reason, I find that feature of gps devices to be no more than a curiosity and rarely used.

Thanks mostdom for replying.
I'm not particularly concerned about having it. As you say, it probably wont get used that often, but it seems strange that it's not included in the general specification.
I'll have a look in the manual to see what else they've missed. :-)

the newer tomtom maps/software have this function but, like their maps, it's innacurate and/or out of date and/or just not there... i'm guessing this is why it's not advertised in the specifications (didn't use 'specs' in case people think we mean average speed cameras!)

Actually you are, but I woudn't worry about it. :-)

I was the one who asked the original question, and I did mean the speed the car was travelling at.
IOW can it give a constant readout of the cars current road speed?
If nothing else it would enable one to check the accuracy of the cars speedo.

After playing with a TT 910 I did find it. Not in the manual, but under the GPS details. At least I found a '0 mph' along with the current lat and long, which prompts me to ask a corollary question.

Can the current speed be shown on the main screen, as it's not there by default?
The 910 manual doesn't seem very clear at explaining how to use all the functions.

Go to change preferences/ status bar preferences and tick the speed check box. This will display current speed and road speed limit (where known, not all roads contain the speed data as yet, and some are wrong). The current speed display is more accurate than the vehicles speedo, but accuracy is best on straight level roads - Mike

Does anyone else find a discrepancy in the tom tom speed and your vehicle speedometer. I'm reading a difference of about 6mph. The tom tom is the lower so which one would you use?

the tom tom910 lets you turn on or off your speed 910 is very good
