I received my maps 4 weeks later and installed the 1.4GB version of the North America/Canada Maps on my TTG. All the missing roads that were missing in the previous map appear in the new version. This is truly a very good upgrade. |

ajlee7, any chance that you could let me know what a couple of those roads are please?
I want to verify what tomtom support told me, regarding the maps being "street for street" alike between the 914Mb download & the 1.4Gb DVD version.
Something is clearly missing between the download & DVD version, I hope that it is just map detail.

Sure, I'll give you Lat / Lons via PM in a while. I'm not exactly sure what you are comparing but my comparison is new US/Canada maps vs the previous maps. |

Please see my post a couple back.
Basically I queried with tomtom support why the maps supplied on DVD were a later version than the downloadable map (normally you would expect the downloadable version to be later as it takes time to manufacture & distribute a DVD), I was told they were identical despite the version numbers.
If they are identical, how come the DVD map is approx 50% bigger filesize?.
I'm not too worried if some map detailing (ie no rivers shown etc) is missing, I am worried that I may not have the latest road mapping though.

I downloaded the "latest" US map in December and have version v660.1215 for USA/Canada.
Could somebody please tell me whether this is the old version? If so I will be pursuing legal avenues for mis-selling against TT. |

I also have v660.1215, downloaded on 30th Dec 2006.
Like you jumpjim, I was also concerened that the maps appeared to be an earlier version than the DVD, I took this up with tomtom as a support issue, they agreed that the maps were a different varient, but replied "The maps are exactly the same street for street lake for lake."
I am not wholly convinced though, as I have posted elsewhere on this forum that the maps are quite different filesize between 660.1215 & 660.1254 (with 1215 being approx 2/3rds of 1254).
If anyone can confirm some road changes that have been included in 1254 from a previous version, then I can check on my 1215, if they are not on the 1215, then I think we have a genuine reason to take this matter further with tomtom.

On the serial number card it says mine is a V6.65 . This was a new DVD supplied to a USA address in January this year. |
