Hi,

I'm looking for a good bluetooth GPS for car nav. The more reviews I read on the internet, the more confused I am. It seems that there are many choices out there but I just could not find the best for my simple requirements.

1). Excellent GPS performance (accuracy, sensitivity, etc.).
2). Replacable battery. Emtac/Socket BT GPS looks really amazing for it performance Thumbs Up but the fact that its battery is not replacable annoys me a lot. What can I do with it after the battery dies? Sad

Any comments are welcome! Thanks!

Ray

My requirements were pretty much the same as yours, so I chose the Navman 4400 and am very pleased with it.

The sensitivity is so high that I don't bother to place it optimally, but just leave it in the coin tray in front of the gear lever. It works just as well in the enclosed cubby hole on top of the dashboard. I suspect it would work even in the glovebox, but let's not try to make life too difficult! Much more sensitive than either of the GPS sleeves I have used (Navman 3000 and EMTAC/Transplant MKII).

The main reason I chose it was because it takes AAA batteries. I use rechargeable NIMHs.

Although I can't claim knowledge of using any other than my Emtac BTGPS I find it unbelievably good in all respects. All but the shortest journeys I run from the cigar lighter socket so the internal battery gets next to no use and I'm given to believe the unit would continue to work this way even if the battery was dead. Go for it I say.

Thanks for your suggestive and helpful comments. Socket bluetooth GPS was the best choice until I read something from an HP forum about the constant BT link lost with 2215. There may be some bug in the bluetooth driver of HP 2215. Still do not know whether it is an issue for all bluetooth GPS.
