Hi
Just wondering if I need to change anything in Tomtom for it to recognise more than 8 satelites, I was led to believe this would pick up all of them but I never see more than 8 on the display
I might be being dumb but would appreciate someone confirminh it if I am
Many thanks

Paul, the number you are seeing sounds about right. For a start there are 24 active in total, so in theory you could only ever expect to see a maximum of 12 from any single location on the planet, then factor in the obscuration from buildings, the roof of your car etc. eight doesn't sound too bad. Some of my units will often show more than eight, but take them into a city centre and the figure can drop off quite dramatically - Mike |

Mike
Thanks for the quick response and explanation, just thought that it was me but it would appear all is well
Just on a similar subject, my Tomtom does have a bit of a fit sometimes whilst driving and put me in a field for a few seconds and then catch back up again, is this a common complaint or just unique to me?
Thanks again

The "off-roading" could be caused by a number of issues
1/ poor GPS reception
2/ local interference (military training areas etc)
3/ incorrect map data (if it is this the unit does the off-road trip everytime in the same spot.

Mike
Thanks again
The problem does occur in the same place everytime so it would appear that there is a problem with my map
Can I get it replaced anywhere, it is the original from Tomtom as supplied in the kit
Regards

It could be you are using an old map - what map version is loaded to your device?
Map errors can be reported to TomTom or the map data provider, eventually they are corrected, where does this problem occur? - Mike |

A5 built by the Romans so it is probably interference or bad signal and not bad mapping.
As I recall you pass through a small wooded area in Hinckley just before you reach the M69. Could be a reduction of signal by the trees. |
