May not be the case for everyone but a colleague has a ONE v1 which recently developed 2 troblems:

1. The Speaker packed up but earphone socket still worked ( he occaisionally plugged into van stereo with adaptor ).
2. Poor charging - he often connected charge lead and his ONE battery died while driving along.....
It's out of warranty & I'm a rabid meddler ( & qualified tronix bod ) so......

1. Having popped it open, I found 1 of 2 spring-pins ( which disable the speaker when earphone plug is in ) was oversprung and failing to return to position thus not permitting said speaker to operate.
2. The power connector has a central pin and an outer spring in the housing. The outer spring had...you guessed it....become oversprung and was failing to clasp the power plug & hold it firmly hence poor charging.

These troblems have been rectified & the unit takes / holds charge perfectly and the speaker booms out instructions ( which for a ONE v1 is pretty good ).

If you have a warranty, take it back. If not, it's an easy repair so don't junk it just yet. Let someone qualified take a look and you could get your ONE v1 back better than ever, too !!!!

...and if you're *really* good, you can sort them out from the outside using a straightened paperclip w/ a tiny hook at the end... :D

Beware of shorting outthe battery if you try that on the power socket!
