Hi - Relatively new member of this brilliant community, many thanks to regulars who've made it indispensable. I bought an i3 in November 06, and am generally very happy with it. Subscribed to PGPSW camera database, and that works really well.

The one problem I have is that the unit has recently started telling me at every start-up that the maps are out-of-date (bought with "City Navigator Europe NT+ v8 - Region 3 (Ger/Czk), Sept 05").

I don't need to update for my travel needs, so is there any way I can permanently stop this annoying 'nag screen'?

Many thanks for any suggestions -

Steve

This has just reminded me that since I downgraded to V2.7, the reminder doesn't appear anymore, like it did with V3.2.

Strange, but bloody great!

ANother plus for V2.7! :D

No problem - was on page 2 and didn't really stand out...

What firmware / software build are you using?

Hi all thought I'd share this tip with all who are getting the message that their maps are out of date on the i3. Hold down all the three buttons on the unit at the same time for a short while (with the unit turned off). You will get a message come up saying clear data click yes. You may have to try more than once, it didn't work for me first time....You may want to try and update to the latest V 3.20 maps first I did this a couple of months ago. Once done take the unit out and get a fix on the satellite you may have to wait while it gets a fix. The downside it removes all of your recent finds and favourites, good in a way it cleans up the unit. It did not remove any poi's or speed camera uploads they were still there. In other words it returned my unit to as if I had just got it new out of the box but with the last version update still on with no more map update message on start up...............Mick

Ummmm.... 3.20 I think - arrived as 3.17 but I updated it when I saw that the latest build of Ash's Camera Manager required it.

I'm really new to all of this - reasonably happy to mess about with computers, but on a steep learning curve right now to grasp the underlying technologies of satnav.

Thanks again for your help -

Steve

Firmware updates only update the software not the maps.

Sounds right but not sure there ever was a 3.17 released

However those of us still on 2.7 (that's another story) haven't seen this message so it seems to be firmware based.

EasyGPS www.easygps.com allows you to back up your Favourites to your PC and reload them to the Sat Nav.

Ah, thanks for that, Paul. I have worried about losing my Favs ever since I got my i3. No longer! Dead easy to use too!

Now I can get rid of that annoying map update message! Thank you SlowhandMick for the info on that as well.

Dont worry about it, Your not missing anything, Its just really annoying when it starts showing up every time you switch on.

Im on 3.2 with V8 maps & my I3 is only 6 months old.

I reset my I3 & that got rid of the update message Wink

Hi, I have an i3 with 2.7 which I thought would stop the map update notices, however apparently not!
Is there another way to stop the map update notice permanently (as opposed to pressing all 3 buttons) please?

Thanks,
Jeddy
