Just got a tom tom one, I cannot turn off the very annoying helpful tips. Have turned them off in the preferences menu and they appear crossed out but still keep poppig up. Anybody had the same problem or got a solution.

Strange as it may seem, if you see it 'crossed out', that means it's still on! So tap on that icon again and the tips will disappear.

Welcome to the madhouse, jwren.

Erm.....if the icon has a cross thru it, the text underneath should say Hide Tips. They are currently ON, I'm afraid......

Tap your screen & they turn off, the cross goes & the text says Show Tips.

They are now OFF as it is prompting you to turn them back on.

To turn on, tap again, the cross comes back and the text is back to Hide Tips once more.

Solved????

Question Not that I know of.

Actually, I only know Garmins do because you just told me.
Plus, I just Googled '910 u-turn' and got a review to the same.

Can't imagine why a route would plot a u-turn in the first place? Confused
What do you do if you navigate to a house in a cul-de-sac? Reverse out? 8O
Am overthinking again.
Sorry. Smile

The Garmin units dont plot u turns but if you make a wrong turn then it will recalculate avoiding u turns to get you back on track. Where as the TT one semms to use that option as first alternative. While on the subject of comparisons between the two, I have just returned a c510 to pc world because it was absolutely usless. Although I prefered the menus and options available on the c510 it was unable to keep up with the vehicles progress and always lagged aprox 100 to 200yds behind. On a recent journey from Manchester to Birmingham the c510 locked up 7 times, usually just before a crucial turn.

I see.......Garmin drive you round the block where TT units scream "Turn Round Ya Eejit" until you've driven round the same block off your own initiative. I admit to hating that and frequently ignoring it.

I wonder if 'calculate alternative' would give you the same U-turn advisory? It may re-route you around the hyperthetical block mentioned above? May still u-turn you and go round the block anticlockwise instead!!!!! Probably worth a try, but it does mean a few button taps.....

regards
