I've just purchased TT6 for my new XDA mini S, I also purchased a Bluetooth GPS SiRF III Bluetooth GPS Receiver from mobilefun.co.uk, seemed good enough deal (or so I thought!), reviewers stated that got this working with TT6.

I've got the GPS paired and working with Memory Map 5 and other GPS utilities on the XDA, but it fails to work with TT6.

I've got it set up as an Outgoing Serial Port on BT-GPS (COM7), I've tried Preferences/Show GPS Status/Configure/Other Bluetooth GPS receiver/

Selected GPS is connected to COM7:

and nothing, no input from the GPS into TT6, it's really fustrating, as I thought all GPS were NMEA data streams into TT.

Is this a GPS compatibility issue, as it works with other GPS apps. So I'm assuming it's TT6?

I've also tried COM6 (I've only got COM6 or COM7 to select!)

No GPS Flight Mode is displayed.

Any other XDA mini S users out there working with TT6, what GPS do you use?

Are you sure the device is set to NMEA output? MemoryMap is possibly using it in SiRF mode.

Don't mess with COM6 - only the outgoing port is important . Stick with COM7

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Memory Map 5 and the other GPS Utility are both set to NMEA [COM7] 4800 Baud not the other format.

I am using TT6 and the TomTom Bluetooth Wireless GPS MKII Receiver with my Qtek 9100 which is Vodafones version of XDA Mini S with no problems. I set it up using a guide produced by Mike Alder, one of the moderators, using COM7. I am sure that Mike would be happy to email you a copy if you PM him

thanks I'll try that. Although I suspect the GPS!

As you have a pucker Tom Tom GPS I would expect that to work, I was just trying to save some change!

Andrew, if the GPS works with Memory map in NMEA mode then it should work with TomTom Navigator. Make sure you have no GPS related applications running when trying to start the TTN software (check Start/ Settings system tab Memory Icon Running Programs tab - if anything is listed in there as running simply stop it. An open program could be tying up the GPS comm port.
Check your e-mail and follow the guide George mentioned (saves you sending a PM) - Mike

Mike

Many Thanks, what a service. I'll have a read of the guide now, and check my setup.

I've been out driving today with the Mini S and Memory Map, with no issues.

Thanks again, I'll respond shortly.

Okay I've checked the document, and this is exactly how I've setup my Mini S, apart from I didn't check secure communication because I'd read somewhere dont.

I changed that now. I've no running programs. I've checked that the Bluetooth GPS still works in Memory Map and VisualGPSe - it does.

The yellow/blue twinky does not rotate (I've always wondered what this was!), If I click it it changes from No GPS device! (Flight mode) to
BT 00 00 00 00 00 00, I don't know what these mean.

The only difference is I'm running in Corporate Mode? If that is going to make any difference.

I'm going to hard reset the device and try again.

Andrew

Flight mode is indicative of turning all the radios off on the device (including Bluetooth) disable flightmode and try again (it might save you the hastle of a hard reset) - Mike

Well at least you have it working -
Assuming its an O2 device installing in Corporate mode prevents the O2 Active Interface from being installed (my previous encounters with O2 Active are not too good, so I would never have it on another device I own to be honest).
If you find the device is OK with the Active interface installed simply use it, the Active Interface has improved (from what I am told) since I had trouble with it - Mike

At the next hard reset (in a few weeks!), I'll re-install in Corporate Mode.

We generally use these dvices in Corprate Mode at the Office, but as I'm responsible for the rollout for use with Exchange Direct Push, I can do what I like.

I'll report back, if that's the issues, but as with all XDA we have in the business, we generally tell users to "Poke it up the bum" to reset them, when they play-up with ActiveSync over the air via GPRS!

Thanks for your help.
