I've put this here because the Globalsat forum is very slow, and I use the BT338 on TomTom mobile.

Anyhow, I've been using it of today and things have been fine, getting a lock within seconds on at least 10 occasions.

Later today though from about 7pm, the receiver wouldn't get any satellites. The status window in TomTom showed zero sats. The green light was solid. On the drive back from Middlesborough to Manchester, it wouldn't get anything.

I tried from the battery, and from the car charging lead. Nada.

Is it ? Or is there something else I can try? The receiver is excellent, been using it for about a year now with no problems whatsoever.

The only thing I can think of is that I was parked near some TV outside broadcast vehicles (I'm a TV cameraman), and the truck may still have been uplinking when I drove away. I thought maybe some RF was bleeding over the receiver, but thats a long shot.

A continuously burning green light indicates it is searching for a satellite fix, you could try seeing if you can get a fix with the unit out of the vehicle with a clear unobstructed view of the sky, if that fails try removing the battery for 10 minutes or so. That should reset the unit.

Well I removed the battery for 30 minutes, still won't get a signal. Its been on downstairs now, sat at a big window with a good view of the sky, not a trace of a signal.

I think its broken.

Are you saying the green light is still on continuously? if you are I think your only option is the contact the suppler assuming it is still in warranty and obtain a returns number, that is assuming you bought it from a reputable dealer and not fleecebay.

Yeah, green light on permanently.

I bought it from Ebay about a year ago, tbh I'll just buy a new one methinks.

I was wondering, would there be an internal CMOS battery that might want replacing?

Just looked, no there isn't (even inside the metal screens).

Are there any utilities I can use to reprogramme it, or query its status?
