Hi
I have a Mio P550. All of a sudden the screen stopped responding. I did a reset and the machine just sits there with the green mio screen. I have tried using the slide switch but it still sits at that screen and wont load windows.
I have tried removing sd card and tried starting with power cable.
Anyone any idea how to get it going?

I'm not familiar with that model, but doesn't it have a reset button somewhere?

Try a clean Boot to restore the Windows Mobile based device back to factory settings.

Press up button during cold boot until splash screen is shown.
i.e Press and hold up button then slide slider switch to on.

The other way to do a Clean Boot, if device working, is Start - Settings - System - Sys Info - Clean Boot. This will put everything back to factory settings.

You can now re-install TT.

Oh no!

I found the following on another site:-

Hi,

First of all I was using "search" but I didn't find anything special about mio P550 / P350. I know that this forum isn't for mio but mostly for HTC. But maybe someone can help me.

Is there any software which can "pull out" ROM image to my PC? Lot of inquisitive users accidentally deleted ROM in their Mio's (at boot loader they chose Low Level format).
After this operation they are still able to enter boot loader mode. There is an option: Image Upgrade Tools:

0=Image by USB
1=Image by SD/MMC

The problem is that we don't knot how to copy image from healthly P350/P550 to SD or PC by USB

There is also other menu: DUMP Tools

0=Dump WholeIMG_CKS (if we chose this nothing happens, only "Image_CKS:0x1ddc3aa8" apears on the screen). PC discovers mio as: SEC S3C2410X Test B/D and Windows cannot find any driver for this.
1=User Store to SD (this is nothing but backup of all data in P350)
2= SD to UserStore (restore of previosly backedup data)
3=Mark Bad Block (50MB) - ??

Do you have any ideas how we can dump image?

Regards.

And nobody came up with an answer.

I found this
Quote:
The MioMapCE CD-Rom's don't have a valid installation program, how do I use it?

The MioMapCE CD-Rom's are supplied as a back-up and must be used in combination with the recovery function of the Mio Transfer utility. Starting a recovery procedure will take some time, all data will be installed over the old installation of the internal hard drive, using the USB connection. Recovery is only needed of the software became corrupt after a time of normal use. This function is available for the Mio268 and Mio269. The Mio268 is restoring the image of the SD-card as it was factory supplied. It is not possible to install additional maps to an SD-card using this method.
on the Mio site. I think you may now have to contact them for help and advice.

As Michael Winner says, dont panic, its only a commercial"
Do the following, bearing in mind I am unable to post links to copyrighted software, heres what you need to do:

Google for a program called "DNW", the version you need is 0.50
Install and load it
Connect your Mio and click on the UBOOT icon in DNW
It will then copy the uboot from your device to your desktop, and it will be corrputed, but at least you have proved you can copy the image.
Obtain a clean UBOOT image for your device, google for it, they are out there.
Once you have obtained the image, using DNW do the reverse action, i.e. use the UBOOT screen to load the new image onto your device. Problem solved.

Thanks for your help in getting back to me. I found this thread on google http://www.fourpages.co.uk/mioA701/viewtopic.php?p=7104&sid=7bd69195a74dc7b0d77fa543d9f44486
It seems that it is not that simple to sort? Not sure what to do.

I like others had a reset and screen freeze issue with my p550 after loading 3rd party software. What I did was this:

1. Using the joystick (push down) it activated start menu.
2. Choose settings. My joystick continued to respond, perhaps yours won't.
3. Select remove software.
4. Remove recently installed software.
5. Soft reset.

Otherwise the unit seems to perform well, even battery life.

Cheers

Emory
