Hi to all.

Me again. :D Reporting another fault.
Mine failed to turn on this time.
It behaved impeccably on a 30 mile journey just 5 minutes before that.
Only a hard reset sorted it.
This v3.2 has really made the thing unstable now.
Come on Mio get your act together, we need the stability of v3.11 back as a matter of the utmost urgency.

I've been using the 3.2 upgrade for some time now without a single crash.
So far I've only used the Spanish and Portuguese map, maybe that explains it. It seems that most of the instabillity as been reported by Uk users.

cheers

Hmmm... I've just had my first "bugette" with v3.2

On a route that my v3.0 software happily just said "Prepare to leave motorway in a quarter of a mile"... tonight I got:

"Prepare"
"Prepare to leave motorway..."
"Prepare to leave motorway in a quarter of a mile"
then a gap of about 3 seconds and then
"Prepare to leave motorway in a quarter of a mile"
"Prepare to leave motorway in a quarter of a mile"

...and then all was fine for the remainder of the journey!

8O

My Setup: C510, v3.2 (updated maps), 7 Digit Postcode search working, No TMC

Downloaded and installed all of 3.2 and my C710 would error and reboot immediately on starting MioMap. Reverted back to 3.11 from DVD and all was OK. Eventually installed all of 3.2 except maps and Miomap runs. However, I occassionally get the unit refusing to power on and I have to do a hard reset (like some other users). Have tried to install the 3.2 maps several times but it always crashes and I hae to go back to the maps on the DVD.

Haven't had much chance to test the 3.2 program yet. I guess I will have to re-download all the maps again. It would be nice to be able to get it on a DVD.

I have had so many Miomap crashes whilst just moving around the map and planning routes, that I have now finally gone back to 3.1 to stay. I have moved back and forward from 3.1 to 3.2 many times, and always it's 3.2 that crashes, never 3.1.
For me, the minor improvements in 3.2 are just not worth the aggravation of all the crashes. I'll wait until 3.3 appears.

Hi Sal,

I was really sorry to read that you have had to take this backward step. I have (touch wood) never had any of these problems with 3.2 on my 510. My son has just taken delivery of a 510 and on my advice has also upgraded to 3.2 He too has not had any problems. I just hope that I don't get any now I've said this.

Hi
I am now completing my second week with 3.2, still without a single crash.
A total of 6 hours on the road and probably 25 hours on the kitchen table (that probably does not count but still..)
All my driving so far is on a Swedish map. I had the UK map loaded for a few hours but I did not move around at the same time.

I am only on Metric units never tried to switch to Imperial.

My sample of 1 makes me suspect that this is a map or unit conversion issue.

Anyone with 3.2 running metric and/or non-UK maps crashing???

The zombie problem (refuses to turn on without hard reset) still persists, but it appears to only be happening if I turn in off while charging?? If I disconnect everything before swithing off it seems to start without problems.

Sorry - another post with a problem description rather than a solution but still.....
It might contribute to nail down the error

Sall, if you have gone back to ver 3.1, what speedcams are you using now then?
personally I have gone off the mio as its very frustrating to find that one minute you have 7 digit postcodes and the next you havent, or you get the postcode and then no house no, dont find it really dependable anymore.

Dil..

I'm using the latest version (25th Oct) of the PGPSW database. It takes only seconds to install now that the Transfer Hack is available
Since staying with 3.1 I have not had any crash or other problem. The only thing I miss from 3.2 is the lack of the additional road ID's in the TMC information. I use the TMC all the time and IMO it's one of the best features of the device.
I wouldn't agree that you get 7 digit postcodes one minute and not the other. Yes the upgrade process is deeply flawed, but once you get it working it's there for good.

Put it this way then, sometimes it will let me enter a 7 digit postcode and at other times I cant get anymore than 4 on there and it will jump to a list of available postcodes.

That sounds like you are looking for an out-of-date postcode. Try looking up the same postcode on http://uk8.multimap.com/map/places.cgi

Hi Dil.

Long time no hear.
I've gone back to v3.1 too, with current cams.
Too many bugs in v3.2 for me.

CeeJay.
