bond007, don't know how long ordering from iPAQ choice will take but from TomTom I ordered on their web site on Thursday and delivered on Monday by UPS.
The answer to your second question is that you have the choice to load all european countries indivually or you can have the lot in one go. I chose GB + France+major roads that adds up to about 435meg including the postcode zip file.

Thanks Burn1.

I think I may goahead and order off Ipaq choice. Good to know that you can choose to load individually... cheers

Very good service from Ipaq...received mine via DHL within 48 hrs. So far however, I have yet to be convinced on the merits or otherwise of TT6...I'm still using 5...familiarity I guess.....I suppose I shall have to take the plunge...and set up with POIWarner again, and POIEdit...not sure how importing all my safety cameras will conflict with TT's.in built....then I've got all my overseas maps on TT5 to think about...Australia, N America etc etc...seems it's all going to be a bit of a drag and will have to think of a compremise along the way.

What I want to know is if I purchase the Europe map, can I choose to individually install GB only?

Yes you can.

I have just bought Navigator 6 with the maps of western Europe but only installed the Great Britain plus maps.

Mikeact, may I ask, what are your thoughts on V6 compared to V5? Are there many differences which would neccessitate/justify an upgrade to V6?

From V3 to V5 was a biggish leap but I am wondering whether to save my 80bucks if the leap from V5 to V6 is not so great?

cheers

Well, I gues I'm now 'sold' on TT6, having used it for the last few weeks. Mind you, I was sold on 3 and 5 beforehand. I suppose it's just what you get used to. I quite like the way that if you select the speed option to show on the status bar, it show the actual speed limit of the road you're on, (most times) and your own speed...go over the road speed at around 5/10% above and it changes to red...not exactly rocket science , but I quite like it. What I still can't fathom out though, despite toing and froing with the helpdesk, is how to download the free safety camera option...not that I need them as I use the old database of this site..but it would be nice to see what they are like etc. TT traffic, have yet to go for the free trial...(I'm saving the months trial for use over Christmas and the New Year, when we will be dashing around the country, from Cornwall to Yorkshire to Warwickshire back to Sussex)...so that should be a pretty good trial for it...not that I'm holding my breath you understand ! All in all, I like it...a lot.

I brought from ipaq choice, delivery within 48 hours.

It runs very well on hx4700 with windows 2003 SE. You load up using tomtom home, and have the choice to load individual maps as and when or delete. You can load to pda or smartphone from the same application, very easy to do.

I have this running with pocket gps world speed camera database and POI warner V2.70, again no problems.

You can also use the same custom menu format to modify the menu structure to suit your personal preference and delete unused icons etc...

As for advantages over TTN5:-

1.Better graphics for menus and map shading.
2.Road displayed as under or over, lots better to visually showing on more complicated junctions etc..
3.Map view shows next exit as it actually is on the road signs, also with motorway exit numbers. e.g. 3 Nuneaton., or M42 The South West.
4.Speed limit displayed along with current speed on most roads.
5.Updated Maps
6.Very fast start up, less than 5 seconds.

I have been using now for 4 weeks and do in excess of 800 miles a week around most of the country. No crashes, No errors, No problems.

Mike, As mentioned in the traffic post in this forum, traffic is not great.

So I didn't list it as an advantage to buy over V5, along with the following not so useful new features.

1. Buddies-may be useful for couriers etc..
2. Weather-ok if going to play golf, but if in car not of much use.
3. Navigate to Contacts-OK if in correct format.

please excuse me if I have missed anything, or advise if you know of more,

thanks

Tube.

Loaded my TT6 onto sd card in my O2 pda but can only get 5 digit post codes. I had 7 digit on TT5. Any help appreciated.

Place the postcodes into a folder called ZIP. That may cure it....
