I have both a tom tom 700 and now a garmin.
when i download the gatso camera database for the tom tom all the speed cameras are there, no probs......
when i download the gatso camera database for the garmin (using the poi loader format) alot of the cameras are missing, ...... there are at least 7 in my local area missing...
any reason for this?
i have tried using a poi format conversion program from my ov2 files to csv but the same happens. it loses cameras. |

To isolate the problem a little more:
- are the versions of the database the same, look in the version.txt contained in the zip file.
- if you look at the .csv files in Excel, are the line counts (number of cameras) the same. |

I've moved from TomTom (PDA version) to a Garmin Nuvi (using the POI Loader version of the camera database and Ash's utility), and have not noticed any missing cameras.
If you can provide the location, or the camera numbers, then I can check to see what the issue is.
It could well be a strange problem with the conversion tools, so please provide mroe details to allow this to be investigated. |

could it be that the garmins show the points in distance order?
also, as mike alder said, try counting the number of camera's in the actual file

Right, I've done some investigations into this issue...
PGPSW state (for the 15 Sep 06 DB)...
"There are a total of 10,420 cameras in the database. 3831 Gatso/Monitron/Truvelo, 5419 Mobiles, 28 Temporary, 158 Specs and 984 Redlight Cameras."
Having run Ash's utility, it confirmed it had converted exactly those same number of POIs into the .gpx format.
Having loaded the resulting .gpx files into Mapsource, it confirmed that the files had exactly the same number of POIs (actually exactly double due to the way Ash's utility works).
So, unless POI Loader is doing something very wrong (and if someone wants to send me a set of POI Loader generated files for me to check I will) I really don't see that the database itself is wrong (based on the format).
jslust - what exact steps are you taking (with the Garmin) to conclude there are missing cameras, and please provide (via your TomTom) the numbers of the missing cameras... |

Thanks for your replies guys, ive added or modified some of these cameras. most of them are correct on my tom tom.
In the download page im downloading the tom tom ov2 consolidated by type speed camera files and the Garmin uk-poi loader i3, nuvi etc (both this months) then im downloading as normal to the tom tom and using poi loader for the garmin.
To compare the databases im using poi converter version 1.03 5/3/2004 written by r j davies. i use this just to read the ov2 files.

ok yes the files are the same . the problem lies as i have now found out in that i was comparing the july database on my tom tom to this months files on my garmin.. DUH !! sorry guys.
It does pose on problem though. someone is removing cameras from the database when they shouldnt be. i have copied the cameras that are missing below. i have been past all these cameras in the last few days and they are all still there and have been for several years especially the on at the bottom of the M11. I have checked this against the map under the find location box and the cameras are shown but not in the downloaded databases. can someone check this for me as i am a bit of a homer !!
