Mio Folks

I don't know if this is explained properly in Mitac Mio's soooooo detailed documentation.
However I had a query , which goes something like this:-

1) say I want to 'start' from place "A" -------------- to 'end destination' place "Z"

2) there's another place "B" and some other place "C" , in between "A & "Z"

3) I want to know the distance( + time) between "B" & "C"
& I want to know the distance( + time) between "B" & "Z"

How can this be found out easily , sitting inside my home ,on my lazy couch "A". Guinness

Thanks in advance

** arithmetic says
Find 'A to Z', then 'A to B' & 'A to C'
AC-AB= BC
&
AZ-AB = BZ

but routes arte not arithmetic and neither lie on a straight line.

Don't think the machine can do that. Anyone?

Just guessing why you need it: switch off automatic recalculation in General settings, and you can make routes from B to C.

You can do it -- sort of...

Here's my example:

A = Start Point
B = Via Point 1
C = Via Point 2
Z = Destination

First, plot A to Z as normal and then add in the Via Point B and then C

From the cockpit screen, touch the direction icon (top left) and touch INFO to get to the "Route Information" screen

The screen shows the detail for A to Z the complete Route (with the bar at the top showing the route in green) BUT, if you touch the name in the field under "Destination", the destination name changes to the first via point and bar shows each part of the route in turn and the distance and time between each... just keep touching and it cycles through...

The downside (for you) is that each iteration is shown from the A point...

A to Z (standard route info view)
A to B
A to C
then it cycles to the beginning again...

But, and this is sneaky, if you leave that screen and choose "Edit", you can move the Start/End/Via Points up and down (changing the order of travel) so you could move the order to B C Z A (if you wanted) then pop back to the info screen and see the distances and times from B to all the other points :P

Or you could do the maths 8O

Cheers!

Hi miomio.
You cannot achieve what you are after in your question on a £350 device.
However you can get some of the information you require.
If you set a route with lots of via points on it, click the top left of the screen.
Next click the 'Info' tab.
You will be presented with your overall journey distance left, time left & ETA. (A to Z)
If you now click on the left hand side of the screen you will be presented with your first via point, again distance left, time left & ETA to via point B.
So you have A to B.
You can also get A to C, A to D etc.
You also have A to Z total time, total miles & ETA.
But you cannot get the B to Z totals on the screen. But it could be worked out with some mental arithmetic.

Hope this helps answer some of your queries.

CeeJay.

PS
From experience, the £500 TT910 and the £450 Garmin 360 doesn't even do what you're after.
This thing does more. :D

MioMio,
I'm sure that the Mio does this - you just may not know about it!!
Here we go :

1) Make sure that auto rerouting is set to 'ask'
2) Define start point A (click on map & select start)
3) Define end point Z (click on map and select 'route to')

The route will draw. If it asks you to recalculate, hit 'cancel'

4) Set you via points B & C on the map.

The route will redraw.

5) Hit the route tab
6) Hit the 'info' button
7) Click on the 'destination' field and watch it cycle though the stages of your route !!

I'm pretty sure it's what you want - it's just not documented very well!!
