Got the Fast Flyover working now. Thanks.

Arghhh! Evil or Very Mad

HOW?

Just doen't seem to work for me. THe buttom just brings up the main menu. I then go back to map - menu - route - flyover and let go and nothing... Am I doing it right? If that is the way to do it it just ain't intuitive.

cheers

Alex,

don'r know what else to suggest.

The Fast flyover is not very fast. I'd hate to simulate a really long journey. I have found the route Itinerary more useful for checking what's been calculated.

The printed documentation supplied with my C510E is rather inadequate. I'm surprised that they don't supply in the box a printed vesrion of the online manuals.

I can't get it to work either Alex, and I'm doing the same as you - just be sure you're using the menu button on the right hand side of the unit, as that seems to have been a common problem.

The only thing I can think of is if it's a software issue - rronaldson do you have miomap v3.0 or 3.11 on your unit?

v3.0 May 12 2006

I'll say again that I don't find the Fast Flyover very fast. Can someone else confirm this?

BTW how do you get the 3.11 version?

That might explain something, I've got a C710 with 3.11 and the fast flyover doesn't work.
It can't possibly be any slower than the normal flyover - I could cycle the route faster than it shows.

3.11 came installed on my machine, but I don't know the difference - another thread mentioned TMC, so might be something to do with 710's inbuilt TMC.
I'd hope you'd be able to update your software via the site - can anybody confirm this?

Thanks guys.

I've got 3.11 on mine.

As you say rronaldson, maybe fast flyover just isn't that fast and I was expecting domething more.

cheers

So you actually have fast flyover working with 3.11, Alex?
Guess thats my theory down the toilet.

Nope, I was just picking up on what rronaldson said about it not being that quick anyway. Maybe I do have it with 3.11 but can't see the difference?

Thanks Alex -

If you don't notice any difference then I doubt its working - it must be a BIT quicker, surely.

Maybe its just an issue with C710's using miomap v3.11?

Anyway, I tried going from Buckingham Palace to 10 Downing St POI's, using Car/Fastest and it took 3 minutes and 5 seconds using both flyovers.
If anybody else has as much time to spare as I have, and is as sad as me then post your fastest flyover times here with your model no and miomap version!

There's a bug with it, thanks for the "bug-report". Only way for fast flyover is to remove this line from the sys.txt: "slow_sim=1". It'll "fly" about 500-1000 km/h without voice guidance - no need to time it, quite a difference.
The fast flyover, apart from eye-candy, was meant to check your route a little further, let's say, at a red lamp. For overview there're better ways, like "fit to screen", and the itiner as well.

:o
Has anyone tried a Motorola Razor V3 with the C710 or C510E, I have had a look at the list on the Mio site, but it only shows about a dozen phones.
Cheers
Jeff :P
