I'm quite confused by the availability of both the Palm GPS kit and the TomTom Navigator 5 system. The only noticeable differences I can see from browsing reviews are the Palm kit has a hockey puck style receiver, while the Navigator is a candy bar style; and, the Palm kit is quite a bit cheaper.

I have a Palm TX, which has Bluetooth. I wouldn't mind saving money by going with the Palm kit, but I don't want to miss out on features that might be only on the Navigator 5 system. Can someone break down the differences for me?

I don't know the differences but I bought the palm gps reciever, it works very well. I upgraded to Nav5 since, which also works well (although I messed up the installation and haven't got round to sorting it out) That's the hockey puck receive. I also use the recieve with Fugawi maps on the Palm and laptop PC

There is a confusion between Palm Tom Tom and TomTom Nav5 which I find difficult when looking for support.

Ok, so I assume that because you upgraded to Nav5, then the software that comes with the Palm GPS kit is older than the software that comes from the kit you buy from TomTom. Is that right?

Thanks for the reply, btw.

Worth checking. I'd be surprised if the Palm package wasn't the Nav5 software by now.

It is the Nav v5 with a Puck sized GPS receiver. Works very well on my Palm TX. It was cheaper than a GO and I got the Palm as well - what more do you want...
