I'm trying to make up my mind between these two, but I cannot find any reviews, presumably because they are so new.

Apart from the obvious size and cost considerations does anyone have any observations that might help, in particular on how they perform?

Are there any blank screens waiting for a slow redraw?

Is off route recalculation quick, so you don't drive past the next relevant turn before it's finished?

How much of a nuisance is fixing the separate traffic receiver on the Nuvi?

Are announcements in the correct place, a bit late, or a bit early? Do these times vary with speed?

How do the screens fare in bright sunlight?

Sorry for all the questions but I've just had to return another type of unit for inadequate performance and I don't want to get caught out again! Many thanks for any replies.

Hi

I have the 510d but not the other one, but I had the icn 550.

for the 510d :
recalculation is very quick (less than 5s each time I try)
bright Sun light + polarised sun glassed is not an issue I can still see the screen
announcement are fine, my only criticism is that roundabout are like a road, ie before it, it says enter roundabout but doesnt say anything about where to exit until you get close enough. Not sure it is clear enough.
Not sure about the speed, never pay attention, but the timing is alright.

Screen is OK, but the settings are pretty basic. On the 550 you can change angle and zoom. here it is just zoom and not so good.

I hope it helps.

Many thanks for the information. The screen being OK is important as I thought the Nuvi was a bit washed out in bright sun, but didn't try it with polarised sunglasses.
