I strongly suspect it is this layout that's wrong and causing my problem.

Try moving the compact_green.srf directly into the vehicles folder - also do you have the 4 original vehicle .srf files in that directory from when you installed the new firmware?
Finally, how did you upgrade the firmware - webupdater, manually (via the exe), or manually via placing the files on the SD card?

Great added gimmick value feature of the different vehicles, different colours

The voice (American English) seems to have changed too... or is it just me?

Better interface, including quicker input of postcodes (doesn't go through to symbols by default any more)

Great update... more to come? Makes me think it would be worth while updating to a 360 from my 300 if Garmin are going to continue with worthwhile and noticble differences in their updates like this

OK - Sorted my problem out at last.

I used the (automatic) Webupdater to install the update. (The webupdater automatically updated itself to version 2.3.2.0 and then carried on installing the update.)

Anyway, for some reason I didn't get a "vehicle" directory in the Garmin directory of my Nüvi300 which apparently one should get.

For the benefit of anybody else having problems getting this novel feature working this is the procedure I followed:-

Connect your Nüvi to the P.C.
On the Garmin drive open the Garmin Folder and create a new folder.
Rename the new folder "vehicle" (lower case, singular, no quotes)

Go to http://www.garmin.com/vehicles/

From here on ignore the instructions given on the site for installing.

Select the car and colour you want and select "Save"
Save the .zip file to the Garmin/vehicle folder created above.
In the Garmin/vehicle folder extract the files then delete the .zip file.
Repeat this procedure for as many cars/colours you want.

Disconnect the Nüvi from the P.C.

Select "Settings/Map/Vehicle" and press the "Change" button.
All the cars/colours you installed are now available, just select the one you want.

Hope this helps someone else out.

What about this new autozoom. Mine already autozoomed between 0.5 miles and 500 ft and that does not seem to have changed much. They do seem to have removed the buttom to stop autozoom though, or am I missing something.

The autozoom is now adjustable. Just pick the zoom you want, and it stays there. It still zooms in to 500 ft at a turn, but it zooms back to whatever setting you picked. You are right, they removed the option to disable autozoom.

You're quite right - just noticed I haven't got Autozoom anymore.

Perhaps they've made it the default now?

Will have to check when I go on the road with the new version.

Have just finished my first day with the 3.30 software update, and the zoom is much improved, and - importantly - it hasn't for the first time ever routed me down a country lane on the way back from on location, instead keeping me on a more "sensible" more major road. Looks like they have got the routing fixed (will wait and see for other routes as I come across them over nexy few days)

The MP3 Control Button now on the nav screen is a much more sensible option too

Oh, and my Monster Truck in Gold looks great too as the new "arrow"

Very pleased with it. One happy Garmin Nuvi customer

BEWARE - just spent all morning restoring my Nuvi, for some reason many Nuvi users are finding that in updating to the new 3.30 software their system is being wipped but no new software installed. If this happens to you please pm me and I've got a zip file to restore your nuvi with full instructions from Garmin

It asks you when you first update the system

I don't think it's directly related to the 3.30 version - Garmin have released updates to the Nuvi and the i3 in the last week, and I think the main problem is that the WebUpdater doesn't check the whole file has downloaded before trying to apply the update - if the download stops early, which appears to be happening occasionally as the server is very busy, problems occur.

Upgraded my 310 to 2.3 Yesterday and I have found that 'POI Loader' gives a'Not Enough Memory' message when I try to update my POIs

I have put a report in to Garmin and they have asked for a copy of my POIs. So thay are obviously looking at it. I will report further when I get a reply.

Thanks for the suggestions; on startup it simply asks for time zone, no opportunity to set time, seems to have downloaded PC time so not a major problem I guess. Missing other confi bits and pieces though (like zoom etc) - tried reloading 3.30 but still the same. My POI remain however (on SD card).
