I have an ICN620 with SmartST V3 installed on it. However, the map data is old, so I looked on the Navman store site to find an update. They currently have a special offer on V3 for the ICN620, so I thought great, I'll buy another copy of V3, and that should have the latest maps.
Before doing so, I emailed Navman, and they suggested that all SmartST V3 cd's had the same map version, and to get the later maps, I'd need to pay the extra for the SmartST 2005 maps. I almost accepted that, until a friend of mine showed me his SmartST V3 cd's, which had maps labelled as V2 on them (mine have them labelled as V3). This goes against what the sales guy at Navman suggested.
So, does anyone know if SmartST V3 has multiple map versions, and whether buying it now from Navman direct will give me more up to date maps? The website suggests the maps will be current, but the sales guy refused/couldnt give me the map data version number for me to check against my unit. Also, if anyone has recently bought SmartST V3 from Navman store, can you please post your map version numbers? I'm interested in knowing if the new roads around Stansted are included, as well as the new A130 past Rettendon in Essex.
One last thing - is there something funny about the ICN620. I cant find hardly anything about this unit, everyone seems to talk about 610's or 630's.... ?

Right, the iCN620 originally shipped with V2, which offered 2D maps and no postcode search. Then Navman offered an upgrade to V2. It sounds like yours has V3 and your friend has V2.
If you have V3 then you can upgrade to SmartST2005. These are the latest maps available for the 6xx series. It doesn't matter where you buy them from as there is only one release.
The only 'funny' thing about the 620 is that it was a cut down version of the 630. _________________ Tim
Ah, excellent - thanks for clearing that up. So for newer maps, there's no point me buying V3 again, and hoping for newer map data - I'd have to pay more, and upgrade to SmartST 2005. Bit of a shame that, as some of the features in SmartST 2005 (like the 3D view) are specifically disabled on the ICN620, but no real problem I guess.
Thanks for the info about the 620 differences too _________________ SmartGPS PRO for Smartphone available now!
