...mine has stopped working. Died on the way home Sat - plug in any of the chargers (car or mains) and nothing - no LEDs - nothing.

I have emailed the company twice so far without response - not very encouraging! - begining to think I should stick with Garmin....

Anyone know where you can get this fixed?

Had the same problem with mine shortly after purchase but the internet company I bought it from replaced it straight away. It's been fine since and I'm very pleased with it (lock on speed, sensitivity, battery life etc). Is it still in warranty? If so you'll probably have more luck with the supplier than sysonchip directly. Think they're in Korea aren't they?

Hope you get it sorted Wink

Yep! they certainly are... and yep! it's out of warranty, bought it second-hand.

...and the after sales service from Syson is non-existant. I have sent 6 emails to them, no response whatever.

This has taught me that it is daft to buy kit from a foreign source if there is not a local facility.

I would not recommend this company to anyone... unless you want to be stuck with £100 of useless electronics.

Stick to European or US suppliers... or buy a cheap job.

Most of the components inside are surface mounted so probably cost as much to repair as to buy a new one. Not much consolation I know Crying or Very sad

...some-one at Syson (in Korea) has read this thread and has contacted me.

Four months after the event and numerous ignored emails later, a post on this site has caught their attention.

"Bonnie" has asked for the serial no of my kit and is going to get back to me.

Watch this space, Syson may yet recover their battered reputation...

Bonnie checked out the serial number of my second-hand unit and found that when it went kaput in May, it was still in its first year of use (and would have been under warranty).

As a special, customer orientated move, Syson have agreed to take the unit back and repair it as if I were the original purchaser. How good is that?

Dead pleased that Syson is, after a very shakey start, begining to follow the market leader and look after its customers.

After all, if you're going to invest in some expensive electronics, you need to know you have backup. If you don't get it, you move on and go where you do get it...

The kit is on its way back home to Korea...

...2 weeks later, Syson has repaired and returned my BT GPS unit.

It works beautifully - on it's return, I took it out in the garden to check it out and got 10 satellites locked. A great return to form...

So Syson have done the decent thing and restored their image in my eyes at least.

The next step for them is to provide a more formal process for out of warranty customers and users - if the kit is qood quality and will be around for a while, there does need to be a way to get things fixed and upgraded.

Nevertheless, a great outcome for me thanks to Bonnie in Korea. Many thanks from a grateful second-user customer.

A quick update since receiving the unit back from Syson, Korea.

The unit has worked faultlessly since its repair back there. No fuss, no drama, just working as advertised, with or without the power connected.

I had been warned not to leave the car power supply connected during starting the engine so I assume that this cause something nasty and was the cause of the fault. I have gone through this exact situation several times since so whatever the weakness was, Syson have rectified it.
