hi

can someone please tell me the advantages/disadvantages of SmartNav compared to a PDA with TTn2, im not really going to use the PDA except for navigation purposes anyway.

Also how easy is it to switch PDA's between cars? (the whole unit reciever etc).

If you know of any websites which have compared the two please let me know.

also if there is anything which may be better than the above options please let me know Smile

regards

I haven't seen SmartNav in action so can't really comment on it except that it's not free to use as it is a subscription service.

A PDA with GPS is a good solution, it cost's nothing to run but lacks the intelligent routing that SmartNav has based on current traffic conditions.

As for transportability of a PDA between vehicles then it's simple (Smartnav is installed so can't be easily moved between vehicles), either use a gooseneck windscreen mount and cigarette lighter power so that you can install in any vehicle or if it's just between two cars then buy a Brodit mount for each and just slot the PDA in as you would a mobile phone. See our GPS Accessories section for reviews of mounts etc.

Hope that helps?

I just bought a Dell Axim 5 and TomTom2 as a kit from Dell. The connection kit that comes with it (goose neck mount for windscreen etc) means that I can install it into my car and have it running in under 45 seconds.....I think that would be quick quick enough for anyone :D removal is even quicker.
