John its the Crap 2.90 software release which caused your problems, the arial has nothing to do with anything.

Put the beta 2.82 back on then await garmins 2.90 fixed release should not be far away.

No sure what you mean about the 2.90 software as I have 2.90 software on mine and have had no problems with it, I used it whilst on holiday and again no problems. Also have an external areial which works brilliantly.

The problems encountered with the previous post to which i refered are those that other users have encountered.
Garmin in response to faults reported responded that a backward software installation was recommended until they could investigate / rectify the reported faults. All this and more in posts within this forum.

Can't think of a single reason why an Aeriel would make it worse! I also have a Megane and the Maplin £9.99 aerial routed to the rear parcel shelf.

I only had problems with the 2.9 firmware. Our other car which doesn't need an Aeriel also experiences the same problems with 2.9 and works perfectly with 2.7.

Therefore i conclude 2.9 is defective.

If youve got a renualt then you will need to put the antenna in the back as most have metal coated screens.

I ran the unit a couple of times today on 2.9 and the aeriel connected (on the rear parcel shelf) and encountered no problems at all. The fix to Satelitte was in seconds and responses quick, so I guess I will try and stay with it till the fix comes.
