I have a Mio 168 pda with gps. please can you tell me what I would need to receive e-mail to my pda. I have been given conflicted sugestions. Some say use bluetooth others have said SDIO card, but which?

They are both somewhat right - you need a Bluetooth SD card... Alterntively a WiFi SD card.

Why don't you simply use ActiveSync ?
