Wouldn't a modified splash screen be a better option?

A splash screen can be replaced pretty easily. If you engrave your post code and house number then this is much harder to remove.

Not leaving it in the car is probably the best option. Wink

Have to admit, it's what I don't get. Why bother with all of this - would you really want, or expect to get it back, if you went to such efforts?

Just don't leave it in the car, then you don't need to worry about some ne-er-do-well liberating it.

Isn't that the way to ensure nothing of value gets lifted? Don't leave it in your car - how difficult is that.

Absolutely - a replacement side window is probably going to set you back about the same as a new Garmin.

One of the things that made me decide on the i3 was the size. It fits fairly easily into most handbags, though I appreciate it can be more difficult for a man. Could cause some strange looks if it's slipped into a trouser pocket Laughing

I have put my phone numbers on the splash screen though, in case I lose it while carrying it around or it gets lifted from my bag. But I wouldn't really expect to get it back!

At least it's cheaper to replace than a TomTom!

Having a unique splash screen with contact details obviously isn't going to bother a scrote, the shady characters that would buy your i3 from him down the boozer for a snip probably don't care either. I very much doubt they'd bother to remove it even if they knew how, all the scrote probably wants is his/her next fix. If it subsequently gets recovered the screen will help in a prosecution and might just get it back to you.

Marking by every method possible is the best route. I remove mine from the car every time but it's still a temptation. Additionally having removed it it's quite possible to leave it somewhere, marking will help any honest person return it to you.

Totally - couldn't agree more.

GPS is the new 'car stereo' for the legally challenged, so don't be leavin it in there... sure the lil' f**kers could break in there to rifle your glovebox based purely on the fact that the suction cup in left in (well it is in mine anyway)

but at least they wont get the gps unit (nor do i leave my phone/stereo face/laptop/ipod in the car either)

I really REALLY wanted the tom tom one after playin with it in the store, but for £120 more & approx a third more mass it simply didn't make sense to spend the extra over the similarly spec'd & far fitting in ya pocket i3 !!

cheers

Totally agree - I never leave anything in the car.....just not worth it.

Why leave the suction cup on show the theivin scumbags will still probably break in in the hope youve just put it in the glove box. I take the complete unit out whenever i leave the car suction cup and all. :D

Every car should come with a sucker ring as standard .That would confuse them Laughing

I have deeply engraved "STOLEN?" on my Sons i3..that should warn innocent prospective buyers Twisted Evil
