I'm looking to upgrade my original Legend because the new unit offers colour screen , longer battery life and 3x the internal storage capacity.
I have 2 questions:
does the patch antenna offer anything over the built-in antenna in terms of TTFF or general sensitivity?

does the micro-sd storage card option with the cx simply mean even larger capacity for storing larger areas of map?
thanks for looking

Laurence

...and yes! the memory available is dictated by the card. I emailed Garmin before buying a bigger microSD card in case there were any incompatibilities. They said:

"At present we are doing tests with a 1GB micro SD card and as of yet have not found any issues with it. However although we believe this to be ok we cannot yet fully guarantee there will be no issues with a 1GB card".

...so I've ordered a 256mb card to be going on with.

...and, using Metroguide Europe V7, the Vista Cx (256mb) holds the whole of the UK and Ireland, nearly all of Holland, the border areas of Germany and Belgium. Transferring this amount of map data was pretty fast too.

Quite enough for a bicycle ride!

...and of course, there's nothing to stop you using a set of cards to hold different areas.

I am now waiting for the upgrade City Navigator Europe V8 to see how much this card will hold of the "denser" autorouting data from this programme.

Got City Navigator V8 update installed, unlocked it to work with my SP2610 and my new Vista Cx (with 256 mb microSD card).

Brilliant! The card holds the whole of the UK, Holland and a bit of Germany with street level maps and fully auto-routing. Superb!

My Vista Cx is an "International" one with only a rudimentary basemap. Totally irrelevent of course because the microSD cards are as cheap as chips with the price dropping fast. I will end up getting more cards, each loaded with different parts of Europe.
