Question about Navman "drive-away" preloaded SD Ca

Hello all, I have a Navman icn520 with US maps and the SmartST2005 software. I won a auction on ebay for the Great Britain European Navman Drive-away SD card preloaded with maps of lower/upper england and parts of scotland. When I put the sd card in my navman it goes through the process of reloading the maps but I have no maps available for lookup and the maps show up as red on the screen in the icn520 where you select a map you want loaded. Am I out of luck using and loading these maps on my icn520? Unfortunately the drive-away sd card did not come with any serial codes nor were any requested when I start the smartst software on my pc. It shows GB as loaded on my sd card but it does not change the fact I cant select them for my unit.

I confess I did not know the details of what the drive-away cards offered but since they only offer a small selection of the full european maps I figured that Navman was offering this smaller selection at a discounted price.

Any point in even contacting Navman and finding out how and why these wont work?

Does the original card that came with your 520 work ok??

If so, I suspect that the one you bought off eBay requires an activation code to be purchased from Navman??

I've seen plenty of sellers on eBay offering the SmartST2005 upgrade for my 510 for about £20 and it then says, in the small print, that you need an activation number from Navman which I suspect they will charge full price for (£29). In that case my "cheap upgrade" would end up costing nearly twice as much as the genuine software from Navman !!!!

Geoff, I have the full software for my navman which is the smartst2005 and the sd card that came with the unit has the basemaps only. I had to manually load the maps to it that I wanted from the software. All the maps were activated and everything works ok. I suspect that I fell victim to the old software without any codes trick. Unfortunately the maps that I want (england) and only available from Navman US for $299.00 for the full european set. Do you know if the older v3 maps are compatable with the newer icn520 since my us maps are v3.5? I have a feeling they are but without the activation code I'm probably out.

I "think" that the version 3 maps are compatible with SmartST2005, but the version 3.5 maps do not work with SmartST V3??

I'm sure someones else could confirm this??

The reason I think this is because I could buy the software only upgrade for my 510 to bring it up to 520 spec i.e SmartST 2005 and still use the original maps (V3)
