It's interesting that on the TomTom website the guys at TomTom are stating the new TTG 910 maps now cover "The whole of Europe, the USA and Canada".
Hurrah! Ireland at last. Though under the download section (maps) Ireland isn't available!
Anyone in the know at this early stage?
Thanks. |

You may remember they also said full postcode search was included with V5 software, when it wasn't (unless you bought the new maps too).
PR departments often don't check their facts with the tech. people before sending out their press releases. |

I for one will be very surprised if TomTom do actually have decent mapping of Ireland on these new units!
When the old TomTom units came out (300/500/700), TomTom under there map coverage section on their website had Ireland shaded in, but Ireland coverage on any of their units was no where to be found. Subsequently, from so many peoples complaints on the matter (me included!), TomTom withdrew the shading on the map of Ireland, and its still the same to this day.
I for one would not mind forking out £400 or £500 on a unit which had decent coverage of Ireland. I know the GARMIN Nuvi has some mapping of Ireland, but i'm going to hold out just a little longer to see if these new TomTom units have any sort of coverage, before i rush out and actually buy one! _________________ Don't follow me....i'm lost too! |

The Nuvi is based on Navteq data.......
Tom Tom use Teleatlas in all units except the RIDER.
You could check the Teleatlas website and see if any improvements have been made to the coverage of Ireland in any of their Map releases.
Then just check the map version with what TT releases on the new range.
This will give you a more accurate view on the changes to the map.
Hope this help........... _________________ Thanks,
