Hi
Please can someone clarify how the POI’s on the i3 work, I am very confused.
When I load new POI’s, will they beep & show the icon on screen whenever I approach them, or will they not beep but show an icon on screen, or can this be customized with the POI loader so that say speed camera’s beep but Tesco does not beep.
Or, is none of the above applicable & I can only choose to navigate to one of these POI’s through “where to”; “Food, hotels & more” ….

Depends on whether you have proximity warnings turned on.

Not unless:-
1) The POI just so happens to be your destination - unlikely, I feel, with a speed camera, but you never know... ;-)
2) The POI of relevance, here, has a speed associated with it AND you are driving over that speed, or the loaded file conforms to a certain number of text labels when it's loaded.

Technically, does depend on the options when loading POIs, plus the type of POI information - but as a generalism, assuming you have proximity warnings turned on, speed cameras will bong, Tesco's won't.
Up to you to decide which of these particular locations actually makes you depart with most cash ;-)

Thanks
No, I can see where you're going with it, and it is applicable, and I'd also agree with the underlying point of your questions, it is a little confusing, and not the most simplest of subjects.

if you upload the files on 'manual' settings you can set distance warnings for individual poi files. however, remember that if you drive near one it will keep bonging all the time thus messing up any directions if you didn't want to go there.
i think like most people i would like speed camera warnings to bong when you are over the speed limit, but would also like to just see with no bongs other custom poi on route, is this possible?
rats!
doesn't seem to be any point in loading the other custom poi then
Why?
What if you're not at home, and want to find the nearest (whatever) that's included in the custom POIs? And then navigate to it...
I've used it, before now, to find the nearest travel inn to an out-of-town address, for one of my relatives, when I was talking to them over the phone.
