GO/ONE Maps of Western Europe questions

I used the download versions of the maps rather than the CD ones and saved more money - another €30. Bought a 1Gb card from Amazon £30.99 and am going well..... Laughing

At the risk of hi-jacking the thread here, how do I delete the GB map once I've loaded the GB Plus map? I've already copied over the data onto the 1 Gb card and it's working fine, I just don't want duplicate info taking up space. I'm intending to load France Plus and Iberia Plus.

Just delete the Great_Britain map from your SD card. Incidentally, how does activation work on downloaded maps? Do you get a product code and have to activate it using ttcode.com? Someone wants to know here.

Thanks Tim, have posted in the other thread about downloading and activation keys - basically you're right, you do have to go to ttcode once you've downloaded the maps.

Do you delete the whole map folder, or just the Great_Britain map from within the folder?

The whole folder (I prefer Directory, myself 8) ) but any custom POIs you have put in there, move to the new Great_Britain-Plus directory first, otherwise they will be lost, too.

Good info, thanks. I have decided to sell the TT1 and purchase a GO 700. So if anyone's interested it will appear on eBay at 6am tomorrow :-)

Tim,

At the risk of being a pain - how do I recognise the Favourites to move from the GB to the GB+ file? Basically to save me having to enter all of them again individually....

BTW I've spotted in the 'manage maps' function you can delete maps too - does that leave stuffbehind that clogs up the SD card?

I think that Favourites are stored in the MapSettings.cfg file, but I'm not sure. I was referring to .ov2 and their associated .bmp files.

I just delete the whole directory; I've never used the Delete Map function.

Tim, it was mainly cost. The TT1 was £250, add another £80 for the Euro maps and probably another £30 for a bigger SD card, makes £360. If I went for the SD card maps from TomTom (I preferred this option to the CD/downloads) then £250 + £180 = £420!!! Which is more than I can get a TT700 for, which has the BT phone stuff as you mentioned, along with a proper carry case, AC adaptor, remote control, faster CPU, ANS, etc., etc.

For everyone's info, if you're thinking of ebaying your TT1 then go for it. Mine sold for the Buy It Now price of £190 within 3 hours of going up. So probably price it around £195-200, I think mine was a little low!
