Hi DRP:

You can get the Language flag page to appear on start up without resetting the SD card. Just go to preferences / more preferences/ Startup and check the language selection box. When you restart the full selection page will appear.

I think SP1 for V3 has been out for some time; this latest one is SP1 for SmartST2005
.

Got it!
Yes, SP1 came out around Feb/Mar last year for the iCN510: then came the iCN520, then the updated software SmartST 2005 (or v3.5) to upgrade the v3.0 and now we have the SP1 to patch either the iCN510 with the upgraded SmartST or the iCN520 with SmartST 2005(v.3.5) Smile

Hi Jabbers,

Thought I might try and contribute as I've learned so much in such a short space of time here!

I had same problem as you, it seems that the SD card that came with the satnav has the language files on it, I am using a different card (1Gb Sandisk), apparently you need to put the original card into the iCN, slect 'show language on startup' & reboot. Then you will get the language screen where you can select English-UK. You can then deselect 'show language & reboot again, this should get you back to what you want.

I think that's the correct way, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards all,

Bob

I am having the same problem in that I now have American voices and cannot get the language selection screen to show. I have the 510 with the Smart2005 software and am still using the original sd card. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi guys,
Go to preferences then startup, check the show language selection on startup box, save, then power off. when you power back on choose english uk, then go to preferences, languages and the uk male and female voices are then available for selection.

My language screen would not come up but I have solved the problem this way. Download from the Navman site the zip file to rebuild your 510 SD card, it doesn't matter whether you have a 510 or 520. Unzip it on your PC and find the language files in the NAVMAN\SOUND folder. Copy the two UK english sound files.
Connect Navman to PC and using ActiveSync, explore to My Flash Disk\Backup\Ficino\Navman\Sound folder and paste the two Uk sound files. Now just detach the USB lead and the Navman will reboot and go to the language selection screen.

Is this what you what you are pointing to DRP?:
(UK 130) Why is my iCN only in English now that I have changed the memory card?

Content

The iCN 510 stores language files on the memory card that came with your iCN.
The following procedure will install one language to your iCN. Only complete this procedure if one of the
following conditions applies:

You want to use a memory card other than the one that came with your iCN,

One or more files were deleted from your memory card, or

You purchased your iCN in United Kingdom or Australia and want to install a language other
than English.

Prerequisites
You must have these programs installed on your computer:

SmartST Desktop (in the language that you require), and

Microsoft® ActiveSync® 3.7 (or higher).

If you do not have both programs installed, install them now by completing Install SmartST Desktop on
Your Computer in the iCN 510 User Manual on the SmartST Application CD.

To access the User Manual, insert the Application Installer CD into your CD-ROM drive and use
Windows® Explorer to open the Docs folder. Adobe Reader® is required to view the User Manual.

Note: If you already have SmartST Desktop installed, but in a language other than the one you want to
install on your iCN, you must first use the Windows Control Panel (see your Windows User Manual) to
uninstall SmartST Desktop, then reinstall SmartST Desktop in the correct language. For example, if you
want to install French on your iCN, you must have SmartST Desktop installed on your computer in French.

Step One: Remove SmartST From Your iCN

Insert the memory card in your iCN SD/MMC slot.

Plug the small end of the USB cable into the USB Socket on the bottom of your iCN and the other
end into your computer USB socket. Microsoft ActiveSync will open and synchronise with your iCN.

In Microsoft ActiveSync, click Explore. Windows Explorer will open, displaying the contents of the iCN.

In Windows Explorer, open the My Flash Disk folder. The contents of My Flash Disk will display.

Select the Backup folder and delete it. Be patient, il will take a few seconds

Close Windows Explorer.

Disconnect the USB cable.

Use the stylus to switch the Battery Switch on the back of the iCN to OFF.

Wait five seconds, then switch the Battery Switch to ON.

The iCN will turn on and display the blue USB screen. Connect your iCN to your PC; Microsoft ActiveSync will resynchronise with
your iCN.

Step Two: Reinstall SmartST on Your iCN

Ensure that your iCN is still on and connected to your computer, then open SmartST Desktop:
Start > Programs > Navman > SmartST Desktop

You will be prompted to install SmartST on your iCN. Click Yes and follow the prompts on your
computer and iCN.

You will be prompted to register your iCN. Click No, as your iCN has been preregistered.

On the Tools menu, select Recover registration information from Navman.

Follow the prompts to recover your iCN registration information:

Your computer will connect to the Internet to recover your iCN registration information.

When your registration information is displayed, click Next. There is no need to enter an
Application Key, as your iCN has been preregistered.

When registration recovery is complete, close SmartST Desktop and disconnect your iCN from
your computer.

Your iCN will restart in the new language.

Surley if you re-install the software you will have to install SP1 and that will put you back to the same predicament?
