I have compared my Magellan eXpolist 200 against my tomtom Go Classic ... with regards to heading.

Basically I have set my eXplorist 200 to show Magnetic North ... would the compass reading on my tomtom classic be reading True North and if so is it possible to adjust this to magnetic north ... ta

The PDAs and PNDs always show true heading. They do not have a built in compass. And for street navigation the deviation is meaningless.

I would agree for street heading the deviation is meaningless, likewise the bearing you take again does not have a significant meaning over relatively short distances ...

…. however could you tell me as to was the tomtom is set too ... is it showing magnetic North or True North … as previously mentioned the eXporist is manually been set to Magnetic North, myself having calibrated it so … ta

I should also have said you refer to ........ " always show true heading " ..... are you saying this is True North likewise? .... if so, is it switchable over to magnetic north? …. ta

Yes, true north. No, not switchable. I am pretty sure none of the street routing companies do actually know what magnetic north is.
