|
|
I bought the stuff off ebay. The seller gave me a sleeve jacket. The jacket got the "iPAQ Navigation System" wording on the side. I guess it is NAVMAN 3000 series.
I am unable to get it work on the tomtom5. It keep saying no GPS device! Do I need any driver to make it work ??
Any help would be much appreciated !!!!! :D |

When you insert the jacket, does it say "Unrecognized card" ?
If yes, install the jacket driver
if no, go to the TomTom GPS setup, select "Other Serial NMEA" and then specify the jacket's port (probably COM4). Alternatively, if your jacket uses 57600 baud, select "Other Bluetooth" _________________ Lutz

Bear in mind that the iNS jacket requires a different driver to the Navman branded one. _________________ Tim |

Hmmm
I've managed to get TTN5 and my iPAQ NS jacket talking to each other - sort of...
Taken them out for a few trips and it was only when I'd gone half way up the M1 (from London to York) that I got my first fix. 24 hours later, on the way back, it took 90 minutes to get a sat lock.
Couple of days later (been working from home a lot lately), went out for another spin, and no fix at all after 20-25 minutes.
Any tips, you lovely forum mods, admins and users? |

The best advice is to get a fix before you set off. Not always possible, I know, but even the modern ones ake longer to get a fix when you're on the move. _________________ Tim |

Cheers for the tip, Tom, but there's got to be more...
I had TT3 on prior to going to TT5, and still have the GPS Info 3.07. Now this gets a fix in about a minute when driving around from a cold start, considerably less if I power up and wait for the fix. I then exit that and fire up TTN5, and it still won't fix after 20+ minutes!!
The other night, I drove up to Manchester from North London, and it wasn't until I got some way along the A50 from junction 24 that it finally 'found me'. That was a good 120 miles and ac ouple of hours later.
And god help me if I go through a tunnel (which I did at Meir Bridge) - signal lock and not found for the remainder of the 80 odd miles driven
So why is it that GPS info 3.07 (left over from the TTN3 install iirc) gets a fix in no time, yet TTN5 just can't be arsed!?!?!
Boy, am I frustrated |
