Regarding the PalmOne unit, I've read lots of horror stories and witnessed two of these units die. I have one myself however, and so far, so good, but I may just be lucky. Dunno about the TomTom one. |

another option, if it's not to late is to buy just the maps from tom tom & buy a separate receiver - Holux, globalsat etc. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

One major issue with PalmOne receiver which is rebranded Holux GR-230 receiver is if the battery runs down completely ( easy enough to happen when you forget to switch the unit off) the device may get into a state where it needs to be reset using a special serial cable.
I have had this happen to me once.
I do not know if it happens with Tom tom receiver. |
