Can anyone please tell me in simple terms and with step by step guides, how to use the Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database to download camera locations to a Navman iCN 520.
I am having great difficulty selecting the correct file formats etc.
Thank you |

From the download of http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
- I prefer the all in one zipped file - extract the following to a Temp file on your computer:
pocketgps_uk_xxxxx.asc
(where xxxxx will be gatso, mobile, redlight, specs, and temp respectively)
Now extract the six files will the same names but with the suffix OV2BMP
to the same folder.
Now follow the instructions exactly step by step from the list on
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
Good luck _________________ Gee-Pee

Thanks for your help, mission accomplished.
However, I should point out that the download would not work using .asc files. I had to use .csv files from the "other" folder.
Also, it is important to stress that the XL csv files must be converted to a Notepad Text Document.
The camera location icons are found in the "OV2 bmp files" and can be copied straight into the "Icon File" box of the "POI Options" menu when this is reached during the download sequence.
Thank again |

Glad to have helped. The asc files work for me but as long as you have solved the problem, that's all that's necessary. Yes, you are right about converting XL csv files.....last para noted. _________________ Gee-Pee

You should be able to see your POIs as follows:.........
From Main Menu > Settings > MY data > My POIs..(Well, that's how I do it on the 510, which I beleive is similar) perhaps someone will confirm
Also, if you know of a nearby camera - move your screen around until it shows the site of the camera and you should see an icon of a camera _________________ Gee-Pee

Kevlegs
The info given by Gee-Pee for the 510 is exactly the same for the 520
You have to follow instructions exactly
If you downloaded the files to your 520 then the camera files can be seen using menus Preferences - My Data - My POI
It is here you also see any other POI's downloaded

i think i may have got it!!
I used the csv files as noted above.
Only difference was that I had to physically drag the files into My POI file using the active sync.
It is now showing on my unit!
Now to see if it works with the rest and on the road. |
