TomTom Licences non-transferrable?!

I am aware that in the Tomtoms T&C's the licence is not transferable but as the software is locked to the hardware then, if you sell the hardware complete with the software then it would be good customer relations if the new owner could re-register both in his/her name for a small fee (£10.00p ish). After all, the licence allows lifetime use for the original purchaser so why can this not be transfered to the new owner. By doing this then the new owner may well continue purchasing future upgrades.

The seller will either be purchasing a new GPS with Tomtom or not intending to use Tomtom at any point in the forseeable future and by not allowing the transfer Tomtom would be losing a customer.

As competition in navigation software/hardware is increasing and the quality gap is closing fast, issues such as customer relations/support (both of which Tomtom is not good at) will play a major part in deciding which product to purchase.

Yes car manufactures are mostly going for Tomtom but their loyalty lies with their shareholders & price is a major factor. They will be watching (AND talking to) the competion.

When it is necessary to upgrade my pda I will continue with Memopy Map, Speed Sentry, GPSgate, CLaunch & you camera database etc. (that goes without saying, but I still said it ) but will look at other navigation software before deciding wether or not to transfer TTN5 to a new pda. I will also have to think several times before upgrading TTN5.
