I was running a ttg 500 with 5.201, latest speed cameras and custom sounds. i then did the upgrade and it would get to the splash screen, change to night colours(this is as i had it set on night colours before the update) and freeze. i have just reverted back to the orginal setup and it works fine.

please help

Ian

Remove your custom sounds and try again, it will not load properly with anything else but pocket gps camera database

Is it not possible for Pocket GPS to leave a couple of "Bells" and "Bongs" in their data.chk file for use with other POI's. Or have I got it all wrong !!!

Have a look at www.tomtomsatnav.info to see if Ray has worked a new data.chk yet.

Hi,ive tryed doing that tonight, could not see it on the site so i e-mailed ray to see if he was going to do an update and he said that he is working on it at the moment.

Have you tried copying the data.chk file from your backup?

That will NOT work. You have to recompile your own DATA.CHK the same way you did it for the previous version.

beware though - there's a data issue in the new data.chk , and it's not trivial to fix. the compiler needs to be updated too.

I'm slightly concerned about this 39Poi limit.
I've not got my tomtom yet, and so far i'm not familiar with the terminology.
Does this mean I can only have the locations of up to 39 speed cameras?
Or does it refer to groups of POI's?

Pleas help clarify!!

No mate the POI limit of 39 means that you can have 39 different categories of places.

e.g

X amount of Gatsos at 50 1 slot
X amount of Petrol Stations is 1 slot
X amount of Gatsos at 40 is 1 slot
etc

You can have say for example 500 Mobile Cameras @30mph and this will only be one slot filled

Just remember its not the number of sites it's the number of different types of POI's

The PocketGPs Camera Site database takes up IIRC 23 slots if you use the different kinds of cameras and speed zones ie

Mobile 20,30,40,50,60,70 - 6 slots
Gatso 20,30,40,50,60,70 - 6 slots
Specs 20,30,40,50,60,70 - 6 slots
Redlight - 1 slot
Temp or TBC - 1 slot
Continental - 1 slot
All Gatsos - 1 slot
All Mobiles - 1 slot
All Specs - 1 slot

Still leaving you around 16 of your own to play with.

Make things any clearer?

Generally yes, well said... except

1) You'd probably not want to have the speed-zoned AND the all-in-one versions at the same time, they would conflict

2) Your list is a bit out of date now. The complete download consists of:

Gatso 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, tba and var
Mobile 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and tba
Specs 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and tba
All Redlight
All Temp
All Continental
All Gatso
All Mobile
All Specs
and Everything, all-in-one

Before the Specs were sorted into speed-zoned files as well, a common set to use was:

Gatso 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, tba and var
Mobile 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and tba
All Redlight
All Temp
All Specs

which means using up 18 categories.

If you use the speed-zoned Spedcs as well it's 24 slots.
