City Select to be replaced by City Navigator?

it looks like that CS is to be replaced by CN at the next upgrade, if so instead of buying the upgrade from CS v6 to CS v8 I will now have buy full version of CN.
I have noted that on the Garmin website map/unit compatibility pages, my GPSmap76cs is now listed as compatible with CN, & 18 months ago it wasn't.

Most of the GPS units could use City Navigator but it didn't provide any benefit over the City Select maps so they didn't recommend it.

I think that Garmin will probably offer an upgrade from CS to CN - I doubt that we will be forced to buy a new product.

Apparently CityNavigator will come out in two flavours, vanilla and NT. NT will provide 3D functionality over the standard version and, yes, CitySelect will be discontinued. I've been told to expect these 'V8' maps in mid-January, so I'll be looking at some time in early March.
