I know that this might not be the most suitable place to put this but hear me out. Confused
I currently run TT 5.0 on my XDA II (before that I used TT3) & have had no problems. My only downside is that my XDAII is quite cumbersome to carry around. I use it as a phone as well so it's not quite practical.

As Crimbo is coming I thought I would treat myself to a newer, smaller, more compact PDA/Phone but before I do I wanted some feedback on what I should opt for so that I don't encounter any problems when trying to run TT. As I use TT the most this has got to be my priority when deciding on a new model.

Any suggestions or horror stories that I should be aware of.

Thanks.

Depends on whether you specifically want a Windows Mobile based device or not, if you don't then I'd recommend the Palm Treo 650 :D If you do and can wait a couple of months then the Palm Treo 700w should be out :D

This may depend upon how you want to use it. I am told that the Treo 650 does not support multiple BT connections (it was suggested that this was a problem with all Palm devices but I am not sure about that). Seems if you use a BT car kit and a BT sat nav receiver it can talk to one or the other but not both. So when you get or make a phone call you drop the sat nav connection and have to start all over again once you have hung up. Also means you can't make use of facility to phone POIs. The person who told me that was not a happy chappy.

Do you really need to change?

If you go for a smartphone, you will end up with a smaller, non touch sensitive screen - will this be acceptable to you?

I assume that in-car your navigation/telephony is already sorted, but how about a bluetooth solution for when you are out of the car and possibly don't need sat nav?

I think there are few who would argue, that telephones and sat nav aren't the happiest of bed fellows. Forgetting the technical side, they have conflicting requirements. One wants as big a screen as possible, the other wants to be light and compact.

Perhaps it is time for someone to come up with a compact smartphone to which you can add a touch sensitive larger screen, possibly as a removeable for security reasons part of the car kit - now that would be worth having!

Thanks for your comments so far, I was really looking for an in between as the XDAII is perfect for Navigation but for carrying it in your pocket on a night out you either get strange looks from the ladies Laughing or you have to explain to the bouncers that it is actually a phone & not offensive weapon (or have I got these the wrong way around!! :P )

I'll keep looking.
