Hi, I really want to get this up and running but I’m still having problems accessing the registry on my 510….tried all suggestions re disconnecting, resetting, etc but Registry Workshop (or other similar apps I’ve tried) wont recognise it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When the Registry Workshop launches it will open your PC registry by default. First make sure the device is connected and ActiveSync sees it. You must then click the "Connect Mobile Device Registry" icon on the Reg, Workshop tool bar. It looks like a PDA. You can also access it by clicking on "File" and then select "Connect Mobile Device Registry".

When it sees the registry it should show the four main keys. Click on the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. It will open the list. Click on the init item. The screen should look like this.

Double click the Launch80 item. It should open a window that looks like this.

Change the second line so it says PocketPC.exe

That should do it. Just close the application. If it won't display the keys close and reopen the application. Sometimes it has taken a few tries to get it to work.

Hope this helps.

Could anyone provide the direct link for GPSpassion? I have gone to the site, but can't find the instructions within the site

After using TT5 on my icn510 for the past few weeks(Thanks to this guide!), I can safely say i'm never going back!! I get GPS locks much, much faster (under 2 min even when moving, as opposed to about 2 min when stopped and 10+ minutes when moving while using smartst), there are far better routing options, the voices are louder/clearer, and the software is just more inituitive, more powerful, and easier to use overall. The only shortcoming is that (to the best of my knowlesge) there is no way to log routes.

Do you have to have a 128mb card to install tt5 on the icn520?
Dont think the original sd card is that high.
Can you delete the navman data from it and install the tt data to be able to fit it on?

Hi,

Has anyone found software suitable for 510 use under WINCE which gives a GPS capability where you can load co-ordinates and an arrow points in the right direction ?

Hi all
I have read through this entire thread and been fascinated if somewhat confused. The original thread named a guy called Alex and a link to a site. Having just bought my Navman 520 (yesterday) due to TT go being far more expensive I would like to know a couple of things.
1. Does the link to the site unloock the navman only and if so do you then need to add a different OS onto it to allow you to install TT5
2. Does the link give you a copy of TT5 or do you need to acquire this elsewhere
3. Is the card I have in the Navman an SD card or MMC card as TT5 needs an SD card
4. I have an SD card with TT5 installed in my PDA. Can I just unlock the Navman and then swap cards to get TT5 on the Navman or is there some install/config work I need to do also

Any help greatly appreciated

Rob

I am using pr24's hack (from GPSPassion) and can get TomTom 5.1 running on my ICN 510.

Of course this is lost whenever I do a cold reset. What I am trying to do is create a backup on SD (512Mb) which I can copy back over using FileMan after a reset without having to use a PC. This is almost but not quite working.

When TomTom is working I have the following in main memory:

\Program Files\Navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\Navigator\navigator.cfg
\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe

\TomTom\go1108m.wav
\TomTom\tttoday.bmp
\TomTom\tttoday.dll
\TomTom\tttodayvga.bmp
\TomTom\TomTom\data04.chk
\TomTom\TomTom\data04.chk

and my maps are stored on the root of the SD.

I took a backup copy of these directories onto SD. My restore sequence is as follows:

1. reset the machine - Navman is reinstalled and pr24's menu app is started.
2. run Fileman and delete \Program Files\Navman to make some space in main memory.
3. copy \program files\Navigator and \TomTom backups from SD to main memory.
4. Use FileMan to launch TomTom.

This starts up okay but instead of going into the app it starts at the agreement screen and when I select okay it locks up.

There is obviously something I am missing.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've tried sprite backup, sprite clone and HP backup/restore. AFAICT it should wouk, but it hangs. I suspect a crc failing on the navman installer, if it detects the run key is changed. I can do a cradle restore that works 6/10, but
1. it takes ages
2. If you need the lead, you might as well re-install from the PC anyway.

Not much help, sorry.
