I am using Tomtom 2.24 on a Dell Axim standard with Haicom 203e

Any answers or info on the following would be appreciated, not getting any responce from Tomtom support.

The map screen does not always refresh/update and sometimes freezes, I have to switch to nav view and then switch back to get it to change

Tomtom does not keep 'shortest' type of route selected - keeps going back to 'quickest' [which it certainly isn't]

changing routes or plotting alternates on the move is very slow [took about 10 mins to find a different route from just north of liverpool to darlington] is this something to do with prob above or is it normal.

what is the difference between the full GB and the other area maps on the CD, detail etc do not seem to be any different to me

what does option to 'move E roads to back' mean

Don't know the answer to your question, but if you do manage to get a reply from Tom Tom Support do let me know and I will eat my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over a number of weeks and a number of emails I have never received a response or even an acknowledgement.

You should be using Navigator view as your default, in Map view you need to ensure that 'keep position on screen' or something like that is ticked in properties or it will not refresh the screen as you go.

You don't say what version of the GPS app you're using? 2.06 is the latest. Is the application installed in system memory and where are the maps loaded?

GPS driver is v2.0.2 65

Tomtom is installed in default locations and maps are are on CF card.

The prob with map view is not while I am moving, which I use nav view for, it happens in general use, trying to find places etc.

I also have TTN2 running on Dell Axim, I've had a few problems at the start, with it freezing or not opening but the latest version seems to of corrected everything, have you upgraded to v2.24 & 2.06?

I have all the maps on a SD card but know someone with the maps on a CF Card (using a Dell) the same as yourself, again they have upgraded to the latest version.

Just read your post again, all my Maps are the smallest ones, and I switch maps when I change areas (which doesn't keep my orginals properties setting) I started with the full map but it took forever to update, I'd try using regional or like myself area maps. I read somewhere its do to the information having to be transfered back / to the card, and if you are using the full 100mb map can take longer than using a small 15mb map, all the small maps will fit on a 128mb card (just).

am on 2.24 and have just updated GPS to 2.06.

Just had a new one - when I tried to start tomtom I just got "default ime" in the title bar and nothing else happened, everything locked up, had to do a soft reset to get out of it but tomtom started after this.

I had not realised the 15Mb files on the CD were area maps had thought they were city maps, will give them a try.

One thing I can clear up is the "Move E roads to back" option that's in recent versions of Navigator 2.

In mainland Europe, many roads are dual marked with both a national designation and a pan-European one - the latter being an E number. Navigator 2 defaults to using the E number, but if you're in an area where the E numbers are not marked on the signs but the national ones are, you may instead wish to tell Navigator to use the national designations - hence this option.

I have a feeling that some roads in the UK have E numbers, but they're never used. The system is obviously of more value in mainland Europe where it's quite possible for a continuous road to cross several countries.
