260 is the latest version and you can get it from Garmin's website.

I wouldn't trust some .exe file downloaded from an untrusted source posted by someone who has just joined the forum. (No disrespect intended, guys but this software is copyright!)

Question

Just curious realy but I have read through this thread with interest and as a result am considering purchasing one of these units. One thing does confuse me though. When I look on the Maplin website I see that they will have a monochromatic version of the streetpilot out soon (version i2) and that this one 'currently' is listed at £239.99? Any one have any ideas why this unit should cost more than the colour i3. I have checked the specs on the garmin site and as far as I can tell it is (with the exception of a colour screen) exactly the same machine only in black & white. Further more garmin list the i2 as cheaper than the i3?

I have queried this with Maplin but wonderd if you folks could shed some light on this ?

Hmm your link just point's me back to the begining of this thread ? I have read all (or thought I had) of the posts in this thread and can't recall any reference to the price diference between the i2 and i3 units at the maplin website. Did I miss a page/post (which one?) either way Its no big deal I just wonderd if there was any glaring difference between the i2 and i3 that would justify maplin charging more for it because as far as I can see the only difference is the screen colour.

No worries probably just some glitch in their website I am sure the price will change when they have the unit in stock .........or will it Twisted Evil

I have not experianced any noise from the Scroll Wheel. However, the fisrt unit I purchased from Maplin had a faulty scroll wheel which kept sticking in which was very frustrating. Maplin exchanged the unit for a new one which is now fine.

Oh no, you haven't set the text language to Finnish or something have you? :D

(I did that once on my mobile phone just for laughs then couldn't find my way back)

the movement is quite fluid like a scroll on a mouse , should'nt be any stiffness....

Embarassed Yikes sorry Richard I guess I must have skimmed a bit more on the first few pages than I rememberd, my appologies.

Still waiting to get a response from maplin but I suspect it may be for the reasons you have stated with regard to price fluctuations of the i3 prior to release.

This thread and site has been very helpful though and if it wasn't for the fact that I require European coverage now rather than at a later date for extra outlay I would probably have snapped up one of these i3's in a second.

as it stands if your looking for european coverage you would probably be better of getting the street pilot c320 than going through the i3 route.

anyone used a c320 and got any feedback feel free to pm me as I am interested as to how good the coverage actualy is for mainland Europe
