GR-213 firmware upgradable through serial interface?

Hi all,

I was just about to order a Holux GR-213 receiver since it seems to exactly match my needs. However, after reading this thread I started wondering which version of the SiRF III firmware is actually included in GR-213 and if it's upgradable through the serial interface just like its big brother GPSlim 236. Question rephrased; does the GR-213 unit have a FLASH based program memory that allows FW upgrade through the serial interface?

The outcome of these questions could influence my choice of receiver. If the GR-213 doesn't support FW upgrade and it shows that it contains one of the earlier SiRF III firmware versions I might go for another product. Or wait for a new batch of GR-213 receivers that hopefully hosts the newer FW.

Grateful for any information about this.

Depending on where you purchased your receiver from will depend on which firmware version your GR213 has. The latest version is 3.1.1.
The firmware is upgradable using the USB cable but we do not recommend end users carry this out as if something goes wrong your receiver could end up dead.

Still no reply.
