hello first post on the forums but have been lurking around the site for a year or so reading other posts downloading the speed cameras etc,and i must say the information gained from the site/forums has been very helpfull in choosing which hardware and software to go for.
At first i was toying with the idea of getting a dedicated sat nav unit for the car eg pioneer clarion panasonic but cringed at the idea of spending about £2000 on a unit and would probably get nicked out of the car anyway, so i decided to go down the pda route for sat nav and bought a unit from aldi a medion ppc 250 and was very pleased with it for the price and supprised how accurate it was at getting to the destination (not perfect evey time but good) sold that later on and got the next one from aldi that was on offer the ppc 150/md95000 (mio clone) less wires trailing around the dashboard and you could move it from vehicle to vehicle easy enough, well that developed a fault so it went back to aldi for a refund, i now have the navigator 6500xl (another mio clone)got it from lidl very pleased with it so far,(waffeled on a bit i know)
so now down to the problem ive got, i installed tom tom 3 just after i first got the 6500xl it has worked fine up until now, i had got it in the works van
put in the destination which it accepted left it in the cab to get the sat fix while i loaded some gear on the van got in the cab 10-15 mins later and the little coloured wheel on the screen is wizzin round tapped on the screen to exit the programme, wouldn't have it could not exit so i switched the pda off waited afew mins and switched it back on still the wheel was wizzin round so i had to soft reset it, that exited tom tom now i cannot get it to startup again when i try to start tom tom by the hot key or by tapping on tom tom it will try to start for a second or two wheel spinning and tom tom appearing on the start banner but then it just hangs and goes back to the today screen, i have also got medion 4.2 installed this will startup ok but will not find any sats if i have tried to start tom tom before it, i need to soft reset then start medion then medion works fine, i dont want to hard reset if i can help it,do you think i could reinstall tom tom without uninstalling i dont fancey losing the poi's, fav's ,speed cameras etc but if it got to be done i will have to bite the bullet Sad
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks polekat

It may help if you remove the TomTom Config file (cfg) - you'll have to redo all your settings but that's a small price to pay.

dunno, don't have that old version any more. Just remove them one by one. Move them into a different folder if you got cold feet.

tried removing file didnt work, tried uninstalling tom tom and reinstalling didnt work, unistalled tom tom again and check point reinstalled tom tom didnt work, swaped memory cards installed maps to see if it may be causing problem, that didnt work.
Looks like a hard reset is on the cards Crying or Very sad , unless you guys can think of anything else to try, just another ? in programs it has got a prog called ebackup with an option to backup all data will this save the speed cameras voice files poi warner etc or should i transfer these to the desktop computer and stick back on later if it will work.
thanks for any help
