I have just used TT5 in France for 10 days with generally great success except ............. after selecting a destination and planning a route whilst cradled and GPS signal present, TT5 mutes the Axim X5 sound settings. Route planning was fine but no voice! After much experimenting a work-around seemed to be to plan the route away from the car, then with TT5 swithched on, cradle device and wait for GPS signal. In this order the sounds mostly worked (I think that is the order in which I did it anyway!). Until I figured this out I had to soft reset each time the problem arose to get normal sound on the Axim. Stange thing is it only happened with France or MRE loaded. Works fine in UK and Belgium !! Any thoughts???

Hi

You have left speed related volume ticked in the prefrenses

untick and the x5 will be fine

I had the same problem some months back on my x5 when i first loaded TT5

Hope this helps

Thanks Fergy. I was aware of the Axim/speed sensitive check box problem and ensured this was unchecked, yet still got the problem - no sound at all. Thanks anyway, hopefully there will be some other ideas. Starnge that it only affected the France maps though? Also, whilst I remember, the sound only 'died' after a route was calculated, until then it was OK. However, once a route was done sound went - not just in TTN5 but even alarms and system sounds etc.

Just a thought, you aren't using the John Cleese voice are you....?

No, just the standard voices.

Thanks

However, the problem now happens with UK maps as well !! Although the sequence of events is strange .... it seems that if I cradle the X5 with TTN5 running it SEEMS to work as advetised. However, if I start TTN5 with the X5 cradled the sound settings are muted (actually, even though the settings indicate, say, 80%, you can just about hear something with the car engine off but too quiet to understand).

The whole thing is really odd as there are so many permutations of TTN5 on/off, PDA on/off and GPS with/without sats that it is almost impossible to be certain where the problem lies. I do remember that with TTN2 there was a specific squence with the X5 that had to be followed when using/cradling - I will have to go and find the old instructions and see if the same sequence works - I think it said the application must be running BEFORE cradling but need to check, it was long time ago!

Thanks everyone for the help so far.
