No problem, but I'll not be able to put it up for a couple of weeks (we have a really busy couple of weeks coming up at work with a lot of out-of-office time & I'll be away from computer access a lot).

I'll PM you again nearer the time and give you my mail, you can send it over & I'll put it up.

Check that - downloaded WinRAR and all is well. Thanks to the creator of the POI file - great work and a valuable addition to the sat-nav community.

If you would like, I could put it on here for you with the ones I produce and keep upto date.
The copy you sent to me has 2 POI's showing up in the North Sea.

The data contained in Dice's download is curiously similar to that offered from http://www.poihandler.com/index.asp (who are a specialist site catering for POI downloads - most of them free). For those poeple who requested copies of Dice's file, you might like to know that registration at POIhandler is free http://www.poihandler.com/register1.asp. Once registered, you can then visit the free POIhandler download page at http://www.poihandler.com/poi_download.asp and if you enter the following information . . .

FileType: TomTom OV2 FileFormat
Country: United Kingdom
MainGroup: Traffic
SubGroup: Accident Black Spots

. . . you should then get an up-to-date set of POIs. If, like me, you care to compare the contents of this file with the one originally supplied by Dice, then you may draw the same suspicious conclusions. You might also like to observe the caveat on POIhandler's download page, namely "Please note, all data is Copyright © 2003-2005 by POIHandler"

I do not visit this PocketGPS forum as freguently as some folks, but I can't believe how much posting has gone on for a bootleg POI database. All that was needed was a google search for "Accident Black Spot POI" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=accident+black+spot+POI&btnG=Search, and POIhandler comes up as the first hit. I say the first hit, actually this series of postings are now the first hit, which is ridiculous because the legitimate download from POIhandler has now beed toppled from its topmost ranking.

Can I suggest the folks who have posted this on thread, take the time to look at POIhandler's website. They have a lot of good things and a collection of links to software for "all things POI". Have fun.

Sorry, DerekG, but I am with dice on this one. He never once presented the file as his own work and has more than once stated that it is not. All he, and others, are trying to do is assist in bringing a valuable POI file to the awareness of a wider community. If POIhandler were up in arms, this thread has been running for some weeks without comment from them or PocketGPS mods.

It has been suggested in the posts that PocketGPS incorporate the blackspots file within their main database - possibly its existence on POIhandler is why they did not respond, but we are actively trying to bring a key safety feature to the wider audience.

This is not about condoning breach of copyright, but breaching copyright, to the best of my knowledge, never cost lives. Accident blackspots do, and I would rather know where they were than who owned the dataset of their POI location.
