Since I was able to get TTM5 working on my Nokia 9500 (Needed a format), I have suffered from randomly changing pitch of voices,

Anyone voice can sound like Barry White, a Chipmonk or Normal,

This is also true for the speed warnings,

But if a voice starts off like a Chipmonk, during the journey, it can change back to normal, or even go wrong again,

I've not been able to find any commonality between when it changes, the order the sounds are activated does not affect it, or even if there is a TXT alert or call,

I am using the Shelia voice mainly, and I've not heard of anyone else having a problem with this voice,

An idea's? Or anyone know of a fix?

I've not asked TT CS yet as I know I'd get a faster responce here, (Still waiting over 2 weeks for a reply to last message),

Carl,

i have had it happen on my 6680, but only when i have changed the voice and then not rebooted tom tom. it seams to be worse if i change the voice when i have a route planned.

so try clearing the route first, select the voice, then reboot.

Exiting and restaring TTM5 does help but doesn't cure the problem,

The voice changes still come back sometimes,

this might help ya

i noticed on my 6630 if you use a voice thats designed for the pda/ Go version it works fine BUT

makes the spoken custom POI voices speed up

also if you have a normal voice selected it could also sound speeded up

the 2 above errors i found are due to the pda/Go voice not being 100% compatible as it clashs with other sounds even if ya not got the pda/go voice selected

hope i`ve explained this well enough

on another site they are saying the problem is caused because of the size of the files, at a guess when you change voice, something perhaps is still in memory causing the problem.

thhe answer on the other site was reduced quality files to reduce the physical size of the file

Hi Guys,

I had the same problems when I made some real voice poi sounds for the go and ttn
On some systems there was never a problem and others it happened now and then and some all the time.
I eventually traced the fault to the sample rate of the original audio files which were recorded at 44100Hz, resampling cured the problem.
I'm assuming everything for tomtom mobile should be 16000Hz.

All my POI alerts are resampled to 16kHz,

All my voices are resampled to 16kHz,

But I still get the problem, and I have yet to find any pattern so I can identify where the problem lyes,

The only thing I think I have started to notice is that when I make or receive a call, the next sound from TT seams ok? I've not fully tested this,

Carl,
